After a bit of reading, the KABAR is a skeletal full tange.

Some say it doesn't matter some say its not even considered for tang in some places.  Now Idk if I should buy it.

I'm leaning towards the BK16 since its a little smaller and could be an EDC as well as a good backpacking/survival knife.

Aye spring assist have some short comings. There is always the risk of it popping open if it is jostling around in a bag, but clipped to the pocket that isn't much of a problem. Unfortunately it is the tension in the spring that keeps the knife closed, so once the spring wears out I'll run the risk of it falling open and putting holes in my pocket or cutting up my leg. I do like the speed at which it opens, and the satisfying sound it makes though. There are trade-offs in everything.

switchblades are definitely illegal in CA but that map shows otherwise.

It's not legally a switch blade is the opening mechanism is attached to the blade.  If it's just a flipper or nib that's attached to the blade it's different than a button on the handle.

agreed. those are assisted opening.

On the weekends I'm always wearing this one. Comes in handy for unexpected stuff, that and you don't have to waste time pulling it out your pocket.
I like the practicality of it.

That picture is outdated unfortunately. Maine for rid of any concealed permits. You can carry your weapon hidden all you want. Switch blades are still illegal even though I can legally carry a semi auto uzi pistol in my belt.

In Canada you're not allowed to carry a knife fore self defense at all!  You need to have an excuse to carry it so that you can argue that you're carrying it as a tool not a weapon.  If you say it's for self defense, now they consider it a "weapon" and you're busted.  This is one reason I carry a "sheep's foot" style blade too when I do, it's much more obviously a tool and  ot a weapon in that configuration.

Spyderco Atlantic Salt

Reprofiled edge

H1 steel designed to be rust proof in salt water. Its a non-heat treated steel with VERY low carbon, only like 0.1%  it also has nitrogen in it which is interesting.  The steel can be work hardened to well above 60 RWH

No steel handle liners, very light for its size and nice lockup.  Titanium clip and harware.... nice deal for $50 :smile:

I don't always carry a knife, but when I do It is usually a butterfly knife, and usually only when I am traveling by foot through the streets of Los Angeles.
