Seeing the annual manger scene
    #22643333 -

Does anyone believe that the American traditions are shit?  No clue what is behind most of them historical wise?

Jesus is not coming back. If you believe he is then fucking live what was written about him in the bible. The hypocracy of this amazes me and seeing the media campaign to continue this feel good about oneself and family while the world is going to shit infuriates me.

If it is true that Jesus never wrote anything except in sand with stick so what did this person or divine being do that for?

Spaghetti meatball monster. People that are tired of having Jesus shoved in their conciousness by media, politions, and ignorant people.

Christmas was based on Pagans who put gifts on trees for one another.  End of rant. Just seeing the media commercial with such loving music in the background show Joseph and the woman who was spiritually pregnated lay the baby Jesus down in straw with everyone so clean cut on a commercial. Bullshit.

Show life for what it really is.

Well, yes and no. Becoming Christ-like, theosis, is much-too-much for most so-called Christians. Most people think that if they 'believe' the myths AS IF they are historical, that's all they need to do in life to be 'saved.' Then there will be 'pie-in-the-sky-when-they-die.' (NOT).

Astro-theology, the return of the Sun at the Winter Solstice, the archetype of mother and child as a symbol of life and renewal, and a host of associations I could post if I was motivated (but I'm not) are combined with personal nostalgia, childhood reminiscences, cultural iconography, and a number of socio-cultural-religious dynamics to keep Christmas trappings alive in America. But Christmas has become commercial as the 1965 Charlie Brown Christmas reminds me when I watch it. And this week, Peter Robbins, the 9 year old voice of Charlie Brown in that animated show, as well as It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, 1966, was jailed for 4 years, 8 months. Is nothing sacred?! http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/peter-robbins-who-voiced-charlie-brown-sentenced-to-jail-w159234

Punish him. To bad you can not burn, torture, or hang him. Though I guess you could. Free will. Yet your fear based bullshit I will always stand against.

I am a Wiccan. And what you choose to focus on is meaningless for the most part. See the larger picture. History. Learn.

You say live what was written in the Bible as though its some super easy thing anyone can just decide to do. It isn't. As markos said, it's much to much for most Christians. The reason so many Christians are such poor examples of Christ is because walking the path of Christ in this materialistic and asleep society we live in, is a really really difficult thing to do. Many great mystics, seers and ascetics who dedicated years of their lives and made heroic efforts, failed and fell away from the path so how successful do you expect the average people to be?

A lot of Christian elements were based on older, Pagan practices. So what?

So what. Exactly. Find your own path. Sometimes explaining things on the Shroomery feels like I am writing a college thesis. The time to go great in depth and prove points is not worth the time.
