Terrorism is THEATER * 4

I was reading this article, and the author made some very interesting points on terrorism as theater.

- Terrorism is committed by extremely weak militant groups for shock value, theater, etc, to spread fear.

- They cannot win, they are like gamblers that bet on a huge overreaction from big governments hoping they make a bad move (ie Iraq War post 9/11).

100 people die in a terrorist attack and 100s of thousands of articles are written, it is on TV for weeks, everyone talks about it, etc...But the following things happen DAILY and nobody does anything:

  •     25 US vets commit suicide a day

  •     89 Americans die a day in a car crash[list]

  •     About 4500 new cancer cases a day in the US

  •     1600 cancer deaths per day in US


- To prove his point that terrorism is theater he says that if you ask someone what happened on 9/11 they immediately tell you "the twin towers fell"....They COMPLETELY HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT THE US PENTAGON WAS ATTACKED AS WELL RESULTING IN 125 DEATHS. Why? Because it is a flat boring building, the theatrical event lodged into our memories was in the toppling of the world trade center.

It is kind of interesting. Why do we get so excited and chat away about terrorism, but we don't care about boring old cancer which takes out 11,000/week in this country? Why don't we remember that the Pentagon was attacked on 9/11?

Is terrorism, even if loss of life is dwarfed by other ways to die, a big theatrical show that distracts our minds from real threats?

Hmmmmm....We spend less than $5 billion on cancer research but happily spend $626 billion on defense.

Cancer takes 11,000 people every week. I do not think war/terrorism has taken 11,000 Americans in the last 15 years (5500 days)? If a week of cancer takes the same as 5500 days of war/terrorism why do we spend 125X more on defense. Maybe we just love the theater of terrorism that much more despite this threat basically being non-existent.

so an event that killed 20x more and had 1000x the news coverage should have
taken the back seat... just because it wasnt mentioned doesnt mean it was
forgotten

so tell us, did you forget about the 4th plane? you didnt mention it

Face it dude cancer's boring.  No one cares that a bunch of people die every week from smoking cigarettes every day or tanning until their orange or plain natural selection.  The older you get the more cancer cells are going to multiply no matter what and a good portion of the US is old.  If 11,000 people were killed by terrorist each week then maybe people would find it less newsworthy than cancer but instead it's a rare event when a big terrorist attack happens and shocking because of how sudden and devastating it is.  I've had family members die of cancer and it's a natural part of life but over 100 people being killed and over 300 hurt for no reason isn't a natural occurence

Its a self causing cycle for eternal war. Our US guys set up ISIS and Al Nuzra to overthrow Assad and take down Syria. A flood of former ISIS guys pretend to be Syrian refugees and flood into Europe which results is domestic problems and eventually terrorist attacks and probably civil war. Governments use this as an excuse to strip all their citizens of their civil rights and to fight foreign wars to "fight terrorism". Its all a scam. Its not that the terrorism isn't real, but its all created for its effect and the cycle it creates.

OK. They just found warehouses and pallets dropped by planes of US made weapons. Those shipments got there by themselves. :shrug:

While I suppose that's possible it seems a little naive to me. It seems prima facia that these foreign fighters who all unite under the ISIS banner get their arms from the west. These foreign fighters over there are getting their arms from the west. Whoever the delivery service might be whether its through "moderate groups" or the Saudis or whoever else it might be... the western intelligence services behind the shipments have to know its destination, thats what they do.

There have been some whistle blowers who have come out and said they were ordered to leave them in a certain building at a certain time. I think this was a broad plan to arm up anti-syrian troops. Those anti-syrian forces happen to be foreign islamic radicals who unite under the ISIS ideology, which is essentially Saudi style Wahabism. The best case scenerio is that its unintended blowback. The worst is that is was all intentional. I don't know the motives and I'd like to give a benefit of the doubt but these geo-political intelligence guys are stone cold ruthless and I wouldn't put anything past them.

We set up ISIS by leaving?  Is there  anything we haven't done.  If we stay we set them up.  If we leave we set them up.  The circle jerk reasoning of the blame America first crowd of dingbats never fails to amaze me.

You know you 'rightys' were saying this would happen and blaming obama while the withdrawl was going on even tho bush signed the withdrawl deal.

And yeah, when you destroy a country killing tonns of civilians and people rise up against you you've created your own enemy
