Do you see movies at the theaters?

Personally, the best thing I ever did was to stop going to movie theaters. I haven't been in a theater in years. I still remember the last movie I saw on the big screen, not because it was a particularly good or bad movie, and not because of the experience I had that day...I just remember it. It was "The Brothers Grimm". And I don't remember having any real "WOW" moments in a theater since I was a kid and saw 'Jaws' on the big screen. For the most part every movie theater experience I have had since I was an adult was a bit disappointing.
I can only think of one good thing about going to a movie theater; the big screen and sound systems are pretty nice, especially if its a big blockbuster film with lots of action. But the fact that I now have a nice, big high-def TV, blu-ray, and surround sound system at home makes up for that.
So here are 10 reasons movies at home are better then at a theater: 1- No set start time. The movie starts when I am ready for it to start. 2- No lines. Not to get in, not to get a drink, not to take a piss...none. 3- I always have the best seat in the house. 4- No one ever talks or answers the phone when I'm trying to watch my movie unless I want them to. 5- No crying babies or fussy children. 6- Beer! Need I say more? 7- When its time for a piss or a fresh beer...pause button! 8- Along the same lines as number 7...rewind is awesome when you miss a line or want to see a scene over. 9- The snacks are whatever I want them to be and they cost a whole lot less. 10- I can repeat the experience as many times as I like.
Does anyone enjoy the movie theater experience? If so, would you be able to make a list of 10 reasons that you prefer it over movies at home?

I go see midnight releases of films I'm really stoked for. Otherwise I just download em and watch em at home

I love watching movies more than anything, but I don't go to the theatre much.
The only reason I go is if it's a movie that cannot be properly experienced on a small screen. Sometimes I'll go to midnight releases for fun too.
Generally though, it's a waste of 9 bucks.

I go rarely because tickets are only 5 dollars around here because I am an OSU student. Not a terrible price if I want to see something brand new. I have not gone in over a year though.

The gf and I like to go sometimes. I do enjoy the home scene, pause button and all the aforementioned advantages, but sometimes it is just fun to go to the theatre. We always go to matinee, which is both cheaper and far less crowded. You would never find me at a 7 pm Friday show thats for sure.
Also, the downtown Regal in Portland has some nice-ass seats. A good screen, nice seats and sound are a must if I go out to a movie. Fuck old ass theatres with sticky floor, drink splashes on the tiny screen and crappy sound.

Yes, ever since I got my 100" screen + projector back in 2004 I have seriously cut back on theatre excursions. However, since I do live in Los Angeles, I do go to see free preview screenings for movies that are yet to be released. This requires me to wait for an hour prior to showtime and fill out a questionnaire afterwards, but I still think it's a fun experience 'cause the theatre gets packed to capacity and its fun to watch all of the different people feelin' like a Hollywood insider.
Nevertheless, I definitely prefer home theaterin' it, for the reasons you listed, as well as:- 11- You can do it naked.
- 12- You can keep the vaporizer hot on the coffee table.

Haha wtf, where are tickets 5 bucks? Gateway?
Last movie I saw in the theaters was Transformers but I didn't pay for it. Last movie I paid for was 300.
I don't really see the point. A ticket is $8-12 depending where you live, and a DVD is 15. May as well wait 3 months and then you can watch it whenever you want.
