Some guy stealed from my 90 year old Gran

A painter who worked for my 90 year old gran thieved precious jewellery! The jewellery this guy took was fucking PRICELESS, it had incredible sentimental value. The jewellery was from her fucking mum AND her grandma. It was in the family for decades!
The police are involved but what can they fucking do with any proof!?

I talked to my mum about doing something about it personally. My mum and uncles know the guys name and his house address but they don't seem too enthusiastic about doing something about this fucking thief! :kingcrankey:

What would you all do about this!?

Well it couldn't be that valuable if your family give no fucks about bringing the guy to justice, so I say don't worry about it.  People that take advantage of the elderly are lame.

Keep an eye out at local pawn shops.
If it's priceless why wasn't it in a safe or safety deposit box? It baffles me that people keep thousands of dollars of precious metals in an open box on a dresser. It's the first thing people steal. Not trying to blame the victim but its like keeping a bag of money under your bed.

If you can capture him you can probably get your grams stuff recovered. It is very difficult to capture a person though, to lure them into a trap and get them subdued, can be nearly impossible without someone to "set him up" for you. This would also put you in the position of commiting a much more serious crime than the thief did, and you would be right to worry about if you can get away with it.

I'd call the detectives from your local police department, check local pawn and jewelry stores, craigslist ads and try to get him brought to justice. You may not like the cops, but at the end of the day investigating property and violent crimes is what they do. Let the law handle it and appreciate the good feeling of being on the right side of law and justice.

She's 90 year old. I doubt it would have ever crossed her mind that some painter would steal from her :shrug:

Thanks. Its alot to consider. I'm gonna talk to my uncles about it, see how they feel taking it into our own hands, if they police do fuck all, which I expect they can do fuck all :feelsbadman:

You must not take anything into your own hands after you go to the law. If you do so then you will be the prime suspect in any beating of the guilty painter. If you go to the law with it, as you should, you need to let them handle it, and accept their findings.

The way violent crimes are investigated is that they begin by looking at who had a motive, who was talking about hurting that person, etc. The worst thing you could do is to go to the police and then take the matter into your hands. It would be unshroomy if your grandma gets robbed and it ends with her grandson getting a prison sentence and a record over it. Use your head. Consider your position and how it may be improved upon. There is a public agency which your tax dollars pay for who will handle it for you, if you let them.

Just go to every pawn shop with a description of the jewelry and a description of the guy. Maybe his address and real name if you think that will help. He will probably use a fake one anyways

Find out where he lives, report the theft to local pawn shops, report his name and they'll inform you if he pawns anything, file a police report if that is the route you want to go down.

My grandma got robbed at knife point for her watch. 1 week later, the same dude tries to rob her again and she told him to fuck off that he robbed her last week, and so he listened and fucked off.

From my personal experience, thief what the least amount of confrontation and difficulty.
Hence them robbing old people, so sometimes putting up a struggle can save you, or end your life.

go to his house and break in. when he walks in the door and turns on the lights you'll be there with a gun pointed at him.

then you tell him to get the fuck on the fucking floor.
then you tie him up and gag him.

then you pull out a very sharp knife and  wrap a rubber band around his balls. then tell him how  since he stole your family jewels, you're about to cut off his to replace them.

then either get your shit back, or leave with some balls.
