Gran Turismo 5 prologue

This may sound like a dumb question but I'm more or less a hobby gamer, not a dedicated one anymore.

But is Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, prologue being the key word here, the full version release of the game. I only ask this because it retails for $39.99. I'm a huge fan of the series but don't want to waste me time/money on a watered down release of the game. I was doing some google searches and made me ponder this question.

Anyone own the game? What's your personal review? Is it worth buying?

I was doing more searching and found that it's just a big demo for the actual game. And I agree, it's a stab at the wallet. I don't think I will be buying it but rather wait for the full release.

What about collisions and car damage. This has always been lacking in the series but from what I gather, there are some rumors as collisions being implemented in the game. But beyond that, I am not finding much detail. Plus, do they mean collisions as in effecting the physics of the driving or visible collision damage? It would make the game so much more worth it if the they had realistic damage and actually took full advantage of the PS3.

I don't know about this game, but when the original forza came out I watched an interview about the design of it from the creators, and they stated at one point that many companies represented (read: the ones signing the checks) in the game didn't want their cars or parts to be represented in a "damaged or destroyed" state. Not an exact quote, but that was the jist of it.

I remember reading that damage will be in the full version of the game, or you could download it as a patch separately. Either way, its way overdue.

Check out Grid, i think its more worth it then GT, with damage and all.

By the video Grid looks pretty sweet. What about the car customizing and performance upgrades, how does the level of detail compare to GT in that aspects. The graphics look stunning but what about the part of the game where your not actually racing. I know the past GT's provided me with hundreds of hours of game play and still never "beat" the game.

Directed towards mebesideme: I think it's completely ridiculous the car companies wouldn't allow their cars to appear damaged. It does nothing for the marketing except piss gamers off. Cars are wrecked in the real world so why not in a video game. I have also heard this years ago and didn't figure it still to hold any truth. Apparently, it still does, at least to some degree.

Regardless, GT is WAAAY overdue.

I am definitely ready for another one, and I agree about the damage thing; it's stupid. I beat gt4 like, 2 years ago? I still play it but damn, forza is better imo.
