help with mycological site for a 10 year old........
    #2193410 - 12/20/03 06:36 PM (20 years, 3 months ago)

ok, ive searchd google everyway possible, for a site that explains mycology in a way a 10 year old can understand, and also enjoy it.

my soon to be step-son is doing a science project... we decided the oytsers on toilet paper is bound to be an A+ among the other "baking soda & vinager volcanoes" the other 10 year olds will be doing

he is extremely intelligent, and will be using me as a "field guide" on the project, but wants to do the 1000+ word essay himself.

does anyone know of a good site for a budding 10 year old mycologist's thirst for knowledge to  mushroom ?
if not THERE SHOULD BE ONE!!!!!!!  :mushroom2:

peace all

Yeah you could probably explain MUCH better to him the ways of mycology than reading off any website would. I think thats a great idea for his project though man, your a good influence (not being sarcastic) =D.

Working With you on the Ethno Emporium for a Year and half was a great experience. Especially the early days when things were growing so fast and it looked like there was no limit to how far we could grow!!!

I just have to say, I wished there was a kids oriented mycology website when I was 10. I think books were more popular back then though.  Anyways, when I was about 12, my uncle, a intelligent guy, had this mushroom identification book and he used to take me out hiking after it rained when he was around. I used to have a blast. If the kid is still into mycology after this project, get him a identification book and take him out. This will really encourage the hobby  And besides that, now that I am older, and look back on it, I still think my uncle is the coolest guy, and love mycology. Well he was the coolest guy until he got all that money and coke, but thats another story

You can teach him whatever he needs to know, if you can teach yourself how to do it.

man, that goes beyond words, it was a magical time....  and the love of brothership and plants, along with the fungus brought us together, but we were/ are great together man...  kinda groove. ......  i think together we could make this work,  and it wont be as member dependant as the emporium was.

i have an honest desire to get this kiddie mycological pages going.... and as i love raving said, he wished there was a place as i searched for, and i know my lil buddy is excited about the fungi,,,,,,,    its for us, those who have been, to teach those who may go.

i know mycology, but i am not good at relating to the juvenile masses,,,  c'mon folks, we got some of the best here.  the knowledge and talent go beyond words..  not the best cultivator? we will also need coders,  graphics, and idea's that will make the pages come alive for the young to make them see the magic in mycology. we could make mycological history here folks,  a place where we bring the joy of our craft alive for the future generations.
