It definitely clicks with me more on a trip. Mars Volta is also great.

Those are great songs. Voodoo child live is awesome. Try listening to the "Live at Stockholm" version.
I love both Jimi Hendrix's studio & live material.

Nobody shreds the guitar like Jimi Hendrix does ! he is defiantly one of the best choices for rock while tripping.

Yeah man. Jimi is who got me into listening to music. I was in middle school at the time & the only time I ever heard songs/music was on the videos games that I played. Other then that I didn't really care to listen to music. Then one day I saw a Jimi Hendrix documentary on TV. Some songs where he is really going at it (at Woodstock):
Jam Back At The House Woodstock Improvisation Villanova Junction Blues Spanish Castle Magic
I listened to both discs (live at woodstock) my last mushroom trip & it was incredible.

I listened to Axis: Bold As Love yesterday. I love the songs aint no telling, & one rainy wish. The whole album is a great listen from start to finish.
Zappa, what are some songs you'd recommend? I haven't heard much from them.

You really can't go wrong with anything up to and including Relayer. The whole Tales From Topographic Oceans is amazing. They were a great band for tripping music. I like them even more now than I did then.

Best Song to Trip to Valleys of Neptune Listen to this one night in the desert were the sound would echo through the enclosed rocks around us. The song just sounded so magically and brought you to an unknown place and feeling. This song has never sounded the same as that night.
Another great tune Voodoo chile blues, and Born under a Bad Sign, Hey Baby,
I Love Jimi One thing i love about him is you listen to his music and you feel that era and time, much like many other bands too, we don't have too much of that now a days.

Zappa, you're the man, always sharing cool shit
Been on a Yes binge myself lately, Tales From Topographic Oceans, Relayer, Close to the Edge, and Chris Squire's solo LP Fish Out Of Water were the soundtrack to my MXE experience earlier today. Fucking awesome stuff especially dissociated or tripping.
And to be on topic, Jimi is dope as well. Band of Gypsys & Are You Experienced are my favorites of his, for some reason Electric Ladyland has never really clicked with me

You go. Surprised you knew about the Squire. It is very good. I agree with you about the Hendrix, by the way. Never got into Electric Ladyland. Band of Gypsies, on the other hand......
Oh yeah. Hendrix for adults.

Their used to be a really amazing version of 'message to love' a few years ago on youtube. I cannot find it to this day... Also I can no longer find the 18/19 minute long version of 'jimi/jimmy jam' just the 8 minute one from the nine to the universe cd. The octavio in that song sounds killer.
'stop' is probably my favorite band of gypsys song. 2nd would be 'power of soul' I'll always remember the line "its so groovy to float around sometimes, even a jellyfish will tell you that".
