This is not your home. This is a cradle if you will. We are mere infants. And every infant has to leave the cradle. And depending on what you learned before you step out in the world will determine where you will go. You don't want to be a lost soul regretting what could and would have been. You can create a reality right now that is worth living. You can choose Jesus. In the end, we will all get what our heart's desires. Just be sure that desire is worth dying/living for.

Did you not read the New Testament? Jesus was all about not being a dick and minding your own business. The Old Testament was where most the fucked up shit was said, also that one book in the New Testament written way after Jesus' time by some guy who didn't know him. Also the brainwashing was just the Catholic church abusing it's power during the middle ages (like any other powerful organization) and dumbass people in the Southern United States trying to justify their bigotry.


Basically if you read the bible and look at the fucked up shit allegedly caused by it you will see that it's humans that are the evil ones. This is why I'm agnostic after attending a Catholic School for 9 years, humans can't be trusted to convey the word of God so religion must be a personal journey if you wan't the truth.

The whole thing is fucked as far as I am concerned. Save Genesis, The Gospel, Revelation, and a few moments in between that backs up these books. Everything else is perversion. Whether lessons are to be learned from reading it or not is none of my concern and shouldn't be anyone else's either. :twocents:

The whole point of organized religion (from my perspective) is to learn moral lessons, my mom raised me to be religious despite her being agnostic or semi-christian. She just wanted an effective way to instill a sense of right and wrong, and religion is a good way to do that, but by no means the only way. The school I went to was also very laid back, they taught evolution, told us that God loves gays and stuff like that so my experience with churches has been largely positive.

Maybe for you but for most, including myself, it is a parasite that leaches off your soul and wallet. The pastor only projects what he wants according to "God's will". It is a scam and takes away from what truly matters. And in turn this drives people away from Christ.

I agree that there are many people like that but there are at least as many who  are great people that are selfless and virtuous. The main problem isn't that the Catholic church is a religious organization but that it's an organization period. The bureaucracy of such a massive and ancient group protects people who shouldn't be and doesn't reward those that should. In short, I think religion is good but globalized religion is bad.

How can you say Christ is the only way?? What about the thousands of cultures around the world who have no idea who he is? Or are you just using Christ as a metaphor for do good and you'll be saved?
