Hey guys. I just saw Shpongle play last night at The Plaza Live. It was a wonderful experience on three hits of real with my lover and coincidentally a bunch of my best friends.

If any of you guys went last night I hope you had as much fun as I did. It was weird but awesome to get out and listen to some live music. I was never much of a Shpongle fan before hand but now I really like the music

Did Phutureprimitive open for him? I've been hearing Phutureprimitive has been sub-par

Awesome to hear you had a great time! :awesome:

I LOVE Shpongle, easily in, my top 3 or 5 musical groups.
Their music tickles the brain in just the right way,
especially when enhanced by some type of entheogen.

I saw their full live band performance last year at Red Rocks and that was hands down the most beautiful concert I have ever been to.
(And I'm about the biggest Bassnectar fangirl there is)

Thanks guys! Yeah Shpongle has a kind of tribal beat I like and I resonate with when I go on trips. You guys should look up Air Tycoon, they are really great. Young Athenian Lovers is really great.

And yes Phuturprimitive opened! PP was pretty alright, he played this weird version of Gary Jule's Mad World that gave everyone a really weird vibe.  :facepalm3:

Everyone cheered when he changed the song and his set got a bit better. Not bad  :lol:  :handth:

I was spoiled to have had my first Shpongle experience ever be a live band performance at Camp Bisco, then the 2nd another live band performance at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Considering how few live performances they've done, I feel blessed to have experienced 2, but I will never get over not seeing the Red Rocks show last year...:sad:

I still love going to see Simon as Shpongletron et al because I love the music so much, but it's definitely underwhelming compared to live band.

I saw him this past Wednesday in ATL, and I am happy to say it was the best Shpongletron show I have ever seen. Simon is doing Live production this tour and you can definitely feel it. 'twas a great night, felt good to dance! Normally I really enjoy Phutureprimitive, but thought his set was really blah this time.

Shpongle was a fucking blast I ate L and mushies, Phutureprimitive was lame, I liked his music one time when I was doing Nitrous in a friends car but it wasn't anything special live.

maybe its just cuz hes an opener, cuz hes usually really dope

sometimes openers are told to tone it down a bit

So apprently Simon is coming through my town without the Shpongletron, but someting called a "One time LED show"... what the fuck? I am really curious now.. Is this lesser or greater than shpongletron?

Shpongletron = mind blower
phutureprimitive = meh he had a few good beats. Not my favorite set though.

Fairly small. It's a club that's has history for booking solid shows though, so I feel like they're not gonna skimp. I'll just have to check out the show thursday and report back what it is.. Better not be some skimpy, typical LED lights.. I'm wondering if it's a LED grid/wall and images are going to be ran through that, rather than projectors. IDK...

I was at the Plaza too! Yeah Simon is doing a lot better live shows this tour, as someone mentioned he's doing live production now. I was on a light dose of MDA and it was funny, because I could really feel it when I was out of the stage area without the stimulation/shpongletron, but when I was watching the show and dancing I could barely tell I was rolling.

Sphongle is gonna be in town later this month, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna grab some tickets soon so I can hit that up.  Considering trying out this 5MAPB that I ordered and haven't had a good chance to try yet, it's been forever since I've rolled and this stuff is supposed to be about as good as MDMA, at least very comparable.  It's almost identical in structure and it sounds like the experiences are very hard to see much of a difference in either.  I'll probably go alone though lol.

What kind of crowd would a show like this bring?  Is it more a laid back hippie jam band type of crowd?  Seems more likely than a typical rave crowd, but I'm sure there will still be some of that too.  I'm not a huge Sphongle listener but I think they have some cool stuff.  I need to see a couple shows by May for 2 music classes I'm taking this semester; I have to see the full shows then right up a report about my experience lol.  My prof OK'd this show, so I might as well go right?

I'm eager to read about more experiences and opinions of their live shows here :smile:
