Is China the only reason North Korea is still around?

NK is just a an extension of China as I see it.

China being an ally (the only ally) to NK is the only reason NK still exists.

Just my opinion, and a geopolitical one at that which maybe should be discussed?

China cannot allow South and North Korea to merge or their Army would be too much of a hassle to take over, which bring me to my real question on this thread:

Does China just support NK now so they can eventually conquer them in the future?

well, all i know is that people love control, so any amount of procedure to counteract elsewise, and maintain control for the self, solely, would be the primary function of all humans, including of course, those in power.

from what i know, yeah. china is about the only think N.K. has going for it. china is the main reason the country makes so many rediculous threats and acts with impunity. noone wants to piss off china, and N.K. isnt much more than a loud, toothless dog. so its easy to ignore for the time being

iforget where i read this, but if N.K.s most powerful nuclear weapon was detonated in central park, many many buildings including the empire state will survive the initial blast with no problem.

of course you have to deal with fallout and radiation and shit, but that still says something about what a tiny, angry country that is

For sure Gresh.

I've read the same stats as you when it comes to their nuclear capabilities.

From what I understand though, there's no possible way of them getting one of their missiles with a nuke warhead anywhere near the US.

Can't expect much from a nation with a space program that is only 20% successful. You know what I mean?

Its also estimated that they only have enough fuel to mobilize their entire army for a couple weeks. So its basically just a backwards shithole nobodies really worried about.

I would disagree. North Koreans have recently fled across the border and murdered Chinese villagers which is really lowering Chinese public opinion of NK. Chinese leadership often considers NK to be an embarrassment and a liability.

True, but they are killing once over the border so they can live as far as I know.

The Chinese military shoots on sight at the West/NW borders. So it's kill or be killed right?

I'd rather be in the former position.

They are still around because of Russia originally, though if they weren't allied with China they wouldn't have enough food to feed the part of the population not starving to death.  They are a Cold War throw back and they occupy a very strategic position against China if South Korea unified.  China isn't going to allow it to be taken over for that reason alone, Kim Jong-un is a figurehead.  Its all geopolitics, China needs North Korea.  Also China doesn't want tens of millions of mentally broken refuges flooding its borders because of conflict either.  China deals with a lot of shit being allied with them, but they need the legitimacy of the Kim dynasty.
