Must have been feeling a little insecure about his own sex skills to fall for that old trick

I remember my history teacher laughing about that. He said, 100's of virgins? Sounds like a lot of work to me

When faced with overwhelming conventional military force, one has no choice but to employ unconventional assymetrical methods or surrender the fight.

Not defending terrorist attacks at all, but that is the strategic reason they are used. If these Radical Islamic groups had enough bombs, tanks, guns and planes to take on the US in a head on military fight, no doubt they would.

But they simply dont, and they will ALWAYS fight any nation that occupies their countries. They did it with the Soviets in Afghanistan and they will do it with the Americans.

We call them terrorists but they are fighting a foreign occupier in their own homelands with the only methods that they have at their disposal.

In many ways it is a David and Goliath situation. They are facing the largest military superpower in human history, and their is no way they can do it with out resorting to assymetrical guerilla style warfare tactics.

However, I don't understand why targeting civilians ever helps their cause.

Surely there are enough military targets (bases, vehicles, soldiers) that they dont need to blow up a coffee shop or a mosque or a public Bus?

I don't understand what those attacks achieve, or are supposed to achieve.

Its also important to remember that just as many Islamic terrorist attacks are targeted against other islamic groups as against the west.

Sunnis and Shias are always blowing each other up.

Its a crazy blood feud going back to just after the time of Mohammad.

Its sad that "the Nation of Islam" has  been violently divided along sectarian lines from the very beginning.

However, America has been so relentless in its horrific attacks against Muslims (indiscriminate bombing, locking up children as young as 14 in guantanamo bay and torturing prisoners without a trial, people being confined in Guantanamo for as much as 60 years with no trial, thousands of civilian casualties, occupations of their countries, indiscriminate drone strikes etc) that it is inevitable that more and more Muslims will be radicalized.

Its been pointed out often enough, but if another nation invaded your home, blew up your house and killed your wife, child or parent, many of us would want to get revenge and fight back, and some might even become suicide bombers.

If everyone you loved was killed for no reason by a hostile country, and you had nothing left to live for, you might strap a bomb to yourself and blow yourself up if you thought you could kill some of the people responsible.

Ultimately America's "war on terror" is inevitably creating more and more terrorists. Its an insane policy of eternal war.

What complete bullshit.  The are attacking Syria and Iraq, so far, not the US.

Go surrender to Sharia somewhere else.  It aint happening here

it would appear that you dont understand what terrorism is.

do you think they stand a better chance of success in an attack if they hit
a soft, civilian target that isnt capable of fighting back or against a
military base that's armed, equipped and trained to fend off hostiles?

Success is only relevant if some meaningful goal is attained.

it would be even easier to pick dandelions, but I wouldnt call that military success.

Not really no.

The day the shooting happened I took a walk and saw a grandmother pushing a stroller with 2 toddlers in it and I heard her talk to her husband about the shooting.... It was happening live 3 kilometres away....

The media overhyped this so much its ridiculous.

Not really no... Politicians and the media are trying to instill fear. People on the other hand aren't really scared. Just this morning me and my coworkers we're discussing how pissed off we were that hey cancelled the Toronto VS Ottawa hockey game the evening of the shooting... An older lady I work with completely dismissed it as the media trying to make it the Canadian 9/11.

Let's just say that people see it for what it is. A murder. The 5th or 6th homicide in Ottawa since 2014.

As for me, it didn't scare me at all. I was taking a walk outside while the cops we're looking for a potential 2nd and 3rd shooter...

Trudeau already did. He made a 5 minute speech the night of the shooting. Harper and mulcair did less than 2 minute each at the time they were scheduled to do so. Trudeau came in an hour late with his 5 minute speech.;..
