Let's say 2 different people buy 2 kits that are exactly alike in all respects. These are not kits from Sporechicks, of course, because we all know that these are not for the cultivation of illegal substances OK, let's say 1 of these guys follows all directions to the letter. The other guy decides to improvise and add different ingredients, Teks, etc. Then this second guy can't figure out why his crop failed.Anyway, if you read somewhere that casing TC's with peat humus can provide massive flushes, and then you notice that the kit comes with a peat humus casing, what's your question?

Yep.Peat Humus is great because of its water retaining abilities and its firmness. Peat moss, we've found, is good but not as good as humus. The moss requires oyster shell or lime for pH balancing, and you spend a lot of time picking out sticks and mysterious ''blobs.'' Did I mention we really like humus? ------------------ ''Heightening your mental brain thingee.'' www.sporechicks.com

Organic Peat Humus can be found at any Home Depot, Wal-Mart Supercenter or other nursery. They are rather big bags (40 pounds) and are usually next to those giant bags of manure and mulch. It costs about $2 for 40 pounds. For gardening purposes, just mix 5 cups of vermiculite with 5 cups of organic peat humus. Some people microwave the mix for 5 minutes, some people bake it at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, some people pasteurize it on the stove. Others use it straight with no sterilization, which works well if you have adequate (clean) air flow.------------------ ''Heightening your mental brain thingee.'' www.sporechicks.com

Well, obviously the pH of peat humus is going to vary slightly from region to region and bag to bag, but, yes, it's pretty much neutral from what we've found.------------------ ''Heightening your mental brain thingee.'' www.sporechicks.com
