CNN Rock The Vote: Who's cool?
    #2072132 - 11/05/03 03:48 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

First of all, wazzzup to all the people who I used to talk to a lot here.... I've been working and going to school at the same time, and I've never been this busy in my life. This is my first time here in over a month.

Anyway.... did anyone see the aforementioned Democratic debate? It was definitely the most entertaining as of yet, and the candidates were actually asked if they have used marijuana before. Here are there responses to the best of my memory:

Howard Dean: yes
John Kerry: yes
John Edwards: yes
Carol Mosely Braun: didn't want to answer, laughed
Dennis Kucinich: said no, but commented that it should be decriminalized
Joe Lieberman: no
Al Sharpton: no
Wesley Clark: no
Gephardt was not present

I think it says a lot about pot that the clear frontrunner and one of his only real challengers both answered yes to this question, and there will undoubtedly be no repercussions. No one really cares. It's NORML to smoke pot. To quote Jack Black, "The tyranny and bullshit has gone on for too long". Prohibition never worked.

sidenote: Kucinich never smoked? Come on.... he hangs out with Willie...

Yeah...the other thing I thought was funny as hell...When they asked all the candidates, "Out of anyone in the world, who would you like to party with?" Rev. Sharpton said..."John Kerry's Wife". OUCH. Old-ass Lieberman said "How about the young lady that asked that question..." SICK.

The sad thing is that those who said yes probably don't have decriminalization on their agenda.

I think that it's sad, but to be expected, that people here support a guy just because he smokes some grass. Hitler did speed, does that make him a better canditate?

I don't think anyone here is supporting anyone based on the fact that they smoke weed(at least I hope not). I support Kucinich based on the fact that he favors decriminalization. Hell, Bush did coke back in the day(even tho he won't directly admit it), and he still wants to put people who did the same thing in jail. I judge a politician based on their policies, not their personal lives(unless they're hypocrites).

I don't favor the candidates who said yes because they said yes.... I just respect them tremendously for telling us the truth.

Truth is definatly a prescious commodity in the world of politics. Friends of mine make it sound like the "drug war" is all that they think of when they vote. I am very pro-legalization, but that isn't my specific agenda when I vote. I voted for a few judges who are somewhat tough on drug crimes because they are also tough on drunk driving, rape crimes, and murder. You have to balance out everything when you make a decision. Either extreme, usually, isn't the right character.
