well tell us then why the co2 levels and the rise in temperatures havent

the current temperatures dont reflect this rise in co.2 zappa has already

Debunked. Repeating a debunked statistic is beyond disingenuous.

it's not a statistic, it's an opinion poll

Such bullshit.  The worlds preparing though USA, we're preparing and we won't be bullied, raperd and robbed much longer.

JIHAD ALLLLLAH AKBARRRRRRRRR

Bullied?

Pretty sure he's being sarcastic lol.

But seriously, jihadists aside, the US is a huge bully and our government has done and continues to do a lot of shady underhanded shit to further our own interests at the expense of many, many innocent lives.
We're not the worst out there in terms of ethics, we contribute to a lot of humanitarian crisis's - but don't think for a second that our government is some morally superior entity that doesn't knowingly lie and kill under the guise of being 'the good guy'.

I'm American so I can't say I'm being entirely objective, but I think a lot of people from all over would agree that the American government's international agenda is a poor and disconnected representation of the average American's and I think that we're kind of an absurd but ultimately okay group..so don't get me wrong, I'm not anti american or anything I just think that our government is(and has been for quite a while) capable of some really evil shit that they do a good job of sweeping under the rug.

THe world desperatly needs to address he environmental issues.

The science is clear. It is a problem but companies and politician are running interference with bullshit stories they make up from nothing while science can't change it story cause it is what it is.

Since the human brain is practically incapable of think far in the future, people won't fix a problem they dont already feel.

We need to address this and the idiots need to see past the smokescreen of corporate and political interest....

Agreed.

Actually, I'm a little bit more optimistic seeing that there has been a significant show of concern and a lot more big promises are being made for more investment renewable energy. Even China has realized that the impending environmental issues are a direct threat to their growth as a country in the short term and have been passing a lot of laws and policies the last few years as a result.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-04-24/china-enacts-biggest-pollution-curbs-in-25-years.html

I wonder how much of a driving force that is behind the US tackling issues, we are the 2nd largest driving force behind renewable energy after them and there is a huge financial incentive to dominate  new technology in renewable energy.

Less heat being able to escape due to raise of CO2 levels.

Hum lets see.... Hmmm. Tough question.

What could it be? I would have to be a huge heat source... It would also have to be constant... An everyday thing... Something that shines heat over the planet 24/7

Hmmm. Such a difficult question.

What could it possibly be?

I know!!!

Its the moon!!!

energyIN>energyOUT

If the amount of energy from the sun stays constant but the amount of energy reradiated is reduced, the earth gains energy until a new equilibrium is reached.

You asked, here it is. Link below.
http://www.bom.gov.au/state-of-the-climate/

Basic stuff outside of the artificial world of net forums

"Oceans
Ocean heat content

Warming of the world’s oceans accounts for more than 90 per cent of additional energy accumulated from the enhanced greenhouse effect, making this one of the most important measures for monitoring and understanding climate change.

The ocean today is warmer, and sea levels higher, than at any time since the instrumental record began.

Ocean heat content is a key indicator of heat accumulated in the oceans, and is measured in units of energy known as joules. The upper layer of the ocean, from the surface to a depth of 700 metres, has increased its heat content by around 17x1022 joules since 1971, accounting for around 63 per cent of additional energy accumulated by the climate system. Warming below 700metres over the same period accounts for approximately 30 per cent of additional energy. The remaining 7 per cent has been added to the cryosphere, atmosphere and land surface.

You people are so dense.

A friend works as an engineer in the enviromental field and his uncle works at the French CNRS. His colleagues all agree on the topic of global warming - it exists, it is mostly caused by CO2 levels.

But, partly because the issued became a left/right thing, and partly because a lot of money is being spent on convincing people of either sides, the debate became a mess where scientifically illiterate people believe they can come to satisfying conclusions by looking at one lone nutjob talking shit in a random youtube video.

No they're not dense. In fact most of the nay sayers in this thread are really smart people. They are just too conservative for their own good and its affecting their cognitive process because its a subject that conservatism inherantly oppose to its core. So much so than they believe that worying about the environment automaticaly labels you as a liberal which is their worst enemy. Too much conservatives is like not enough. Everything is political to them. Either they are for or against. No greyzones are allowed.

It's not a right/left issue. Just because the right has political motivations for being skeptics does not make believing the science a left wing position.

The amount of energy from the sun does not stay constant.
I do not deny climate change.  I deny that the latest changes have been caused by increasing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from 0.03% to 0.04%
I am not convinced it is harmful overall

Quote:
Northeast Pacific coastal warming since 1900 is often ascribed to anthropogenic greenhouse forcing, whereas multidecadal temperature changes are widely interpreted in the framework of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), which responds to regional atmospheric dynamics. This study uses several independent data sources to demonstrate that century-long warming around the northeast Pacific margins, like multidecadal variability, can be primarily attributed to changes in atmospheric circulation. It presents a significant reinterpretation of the region’s recent climate change origins, showing that atmospheric conditions have changed substantially over the last century, that these changes are not likely related to historical anthropogenic and natural radiative forcing, and that dynamical mechanisms of interannual and multidecadal temperature variability can also apply to observed century-long trends.

I'm not the one practicing religion here.

I do not rate PNAS as reliable.  They seem to be involved in counter intelligence.  Meanwhile, while we continue diagreeing the climate doesn't seem to care, just keeps changing.

You don't think they are reliable but you believe politicians when they write the IPCC report?

The climate is and always has been changing

You are going to have to actually prove something before you convince me that the greatest boon to human civilization is an existential threat because it increases the temperature of the planet.  You are also going to have to convince me that, taken on the whole, a warmer planet is a bad thing..  It has been much much warmer in the past.  Also, no warming for almost 20 years while GGs keep increasing and the models fail miserably.  LIke when they break a heel on the catwalk and fall off the side.
