the piecemeal weakening of federal anti-marijuana law
    #2060554 - 10/31/03 02:36 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

since they've decided to vilify themselves and target
medical marijuana operations, caregivers and even
patients, the federal government has opened itself
up to a bevy of proposed legislation and recent court
rulings that essentially say:

"stay the fuck out of people's business"

here's a good example (and from fox news, no less!)

Federal prosecutors say if these bills pass and juries learn that marijuana involved in a case is for medical use, they will commit "jury nullification of the law" -- acquitting plainly guilty criminals.

I love how they say "commit jury nullification"  as if jury nullification is a crime.  Government by consent of whom?

Quote:

Several jurors held a press conference, complaining that they had been misled, manipulated and bullied into convicting.

WTF???  Prosecutors complain about the injustice of jury nullification, but their own misleading and intimidation of the jury is OK.
