Firefall. MMOFPS

Just went open beta.  You can download and play for freeeezzzzz.


I've only played a few hours on launch day, and it was LAGGY as hell because it was launch day.  My coworker however played a day or two after and said it was rock smooth.  Either way it was pretty fun for the amount I played. 

Unlike planetside 2 that is a giant player v player style of FPS.  This is a lot closer to say, defiance, where its first (or third if you choose) person shooter game play (you have to aim, you shoot guns and stuff) but an MMO.  You wear different suits that basically make you a different class.  You gain XP and spend it on upgrades, etc.  You do quests and have a complex crafting system.  Etc.

I highly suggest people check it out if you are looking for something that is a little more shooter then MMO, but a lot more complex then your average call of doody or planetside.

Was looking for posts on defiance, I just bought it and am currently downloading it but saw you mention this game. How is it compared to defiance? It's out of beta by now, no? Do you still play either?

I don't.  It was fun but I got bored of it pretty fast since I had a ton of other games waiting for me to play.  I plauyed defiance for a while as well but once I got through the main storyline missions I gave up on it pretty quickly.  Its been months since I've played either.

Ah yeah I've started playing defiance, pretty fun and cool that I can just use my xbox controller and play it from the couch or play with keyboard n mouse on the pc if I choose. I'm not really a fan of how the inventory and ui works, but I guess thats because its a port from the consoles..

Still undecided whether I wanna keep playing it. I've been looking for a new mmo to play but none I play seem to get it right.

I picked it up for the same reason, was looking for a new mmo timesink.  I've spent the last year looking and nothing has held my interest very long.  I did get accepted into the elder scrolls online  beta which I thought was amazing and for sure will be sucked into that.  Until that comes out though, the best I found were some games that were fun for a few months at most then died out.

I played through defiance's main story up until you kill the guy at the end who has a ton of crazy powers and a sword.  I can't remember his name.  I'm positive since its been quite a while since I stopped playing that there is now way more storyline content.

I played Neverwinter up until I hit max level.  I had fun playing with a friend but you level so fucking quick and the quests, while nice at first, start to feel pointless later on.  I didn't get investested or involved in the story much at all emotionally.  So the second I hit max level and just wenty and BOUGHT high end gear from teh auction house for dirt cheap, the game died to me.  It is free though and they do have that quest making thing that players can make quests you can go on, so technocally you dont have to ever run out of content.

All other MMO's I played are older and I didn't waste more then a few hours in each.

May be working for this company soon.
I started playing this game and I really like it so far.
Devs have a lot more plans for it apparently. But I may know from the INSIDE soon :laugh:

Not a lot of hope for firefall from me, IMO. I played it a few different times in the beta timeline and once more after release and it was boring really quick.  There just isn't enough stuff to do and it gets repetative REAL quick.  But hey if you get a job there, awesomesauce man!
