Nice spots to chill in Central Park
    #8819290 -

Obviously its a park and has many locations great for picnics, but I want a place that's above average.  I was thinking Strawberry Fields as a point to meet at, and remember there being lots of peaceful spaces around that area with lots of trees and some rocks.  What's your favorite Central Park locale?

Here is a map-- http://newyorkcity2005.web.infoseek.co.jp/information/maps/images/maps/central_park.jpg

I like taking the subway (CE line) up to about 72nd or 79th St., cutting in, and walking down to the Southeast. While I know my way around Central Park, I don't know the "map" of it or how to name the different areas...

Yeah 72nd there is bout near Strawberry Fields.  I enjoyed climbing trees at the edge of the park b/t 72 & 81 so you're actually above the pedestrians on CPW and you can puff or whatever and nobody even knows you're there!  Also the castle-looking thing by the theater is nice until an asian tourist asks you to take her picture just when you remember having eaten all those cubes earlier in the day

72nd west might be it...

I used to live in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. I'd eat a couple of doses of LSD, pack a bag with water and ipod and journal and other trip supplies, take the train up to 81 or so, and then just get spun out and lost in the park for hours and hours and hours....good times.

Got any pictures? I'm curious as to what a green area in a massive city looks like... I'm having a hard time even fathoming what New York looks like.

Where I am, in England, I'm in a smallish town in the middle of the countryside. If I walk for 10 minutes In any direction I'm surrounded by nothing but forests, fields, lots of rivers and a couple of lakes. I'm down where all the farmers are at .

Shit do you have any general day to day pictures of what NYC looks like (from your perspective)?

If you have Google Earth, you can fly to Central Park and click on the squares to see photos that have been geo-tagged.

These are what you can get, for example-

I'm definitely going to have to go to that place some day. It looks so different in comparison (I googled for pictures) to somewhere like London .

Tomorrow when I go to the place I get high, trip, walk, ride, etc. I'll take some pictures for contrast.

I might even have a few lying around; seeing as I'm a bum I spend a lot of time there .

I know this is an old post but for those who really want an amazing experience? Go to the conservatory garden entrance at 105th street and 5th Avenue, down your mushies, on the come up stroll the garden which is so picturesque.... You will thank me for ever!! Then find the Northern woods!!! You can either ask a park employee (before the actual shroom experience, of course) or go in at 110th street and 5th avenue, find lasker ice skating rink, in the summer it's a pool, when someone points you to it walk up the stairs to get to the pool then keep walking until you reach stairs going down, you will see the bridge and beyond that is the northern woods, it's tricky to get to because it's off the beaten path, but, when you find it you will be greeted by this really awesome waterfall.... Enjoy!
