People just chill outside Phish show's ?
    #1623140 -

I'm getting back from vacation on the 19th and im not sure if i'll be too tired or not early enough to get to the Phish show on the 19th, so I was wondering do alot of people who couldn't get tickets just chill outside the show ? I think I read that on here a while ago, but I'm just making sure.

good times. Some venues are going all Nazi style on us and not allowing parking lot dwellers during the show, or at least trying to not allow them. Assholes. Someone's always got to rain on the goddamn parade.

Yea, that sucks.  Just let 'em be.  Speaking of phish... I'm considering checkin' out one of their performances this summer ~ but the thing is, I'd prefer going to a Dead show.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like they're coming out west this year, and the closest they'll be is Red Rocks - and I'd have to buy through ticketmaster which'll be a complete bitch and a half...

So, my question is - is the Dead not playing the west coast?

You should see Phish anyway.

This is just my opinion, and I know most who read it are going to disagree with me, but here it is, If the dead were playing 10, 20, 30 years ago, basically anytime before Jerry passed, I would give my left nut and sell a kidney to see them play, no question, no other band comes close. I would have to see the Grateful Dead. Now, with Jerry gone, I'm gonna keep my nut and my kidney. I would love to see them, and i'm sure it would be incredible, but I would be going just to have the experience of seeing Phil Lesh and Bob Wier play together. Not to have the experience of seeing the Grateful Dead. That opportunity, i'm afraid, is gone. That being said, I try my best not to get all like "oh my god, it's the Dead" and do whatever I can just to see them because it's the Dead. That would have been reason enough When Jerry was around, but now, I would rather spend the money on a phish ticket, or even better, go see SCI for a quarter of the price and spend the money I saved on a half ounce and a tenstrip for the show

btw, why are they calling themselves The Dead now instead of The Other Ones?

Is there a different lineup, or did they just decide a diferent name was in order?

i read somewhere that weir did not agree with "the other ones" or "the grateful dead" name change to "the dead." he compared it to changing his band's name from "ratdog" to "the chew toys."

edit: delete nonsense.

yeah, at phoenix, when they play at Cricket Pavilion, tix are $35, they will strictly enforce empty parking lots a half hour before the show, during the show, and a half hour after the show.

assholes. (the venue, that is)

Yes when they played as The Other Ones Bill Kreutzmann one of the drummers was not with the band. he did join them on their last tour however and according to what I read it felt so "right" that they changed their name to The Dead.

Closer to the original name yet not the same.
