There is a huge disconnect between the political parties of Texas and it's constituents.

Yeah, I guess constituents was a bad term to use considering it implies voters.
I meant the general population.
And Texas suffers a disconnect just like many of the other state legislatures do. Lobbyists and Private Interest groups make things messy.

Given time, things will change.

i'd say things started to go wrong for my state just after we deposed its founder sam houston for trying to talk us out of joining the confederate states in the civil war.

Austin seems more liberal than Houston but that isn't saying much.

i don't hate texas. this place will always be home to some degree. but our politics are just embarrassing. i know so many bright, good people here. i don't get how any of this bullshit flies.

I have to say, all the Texans I met were very polite and friendly. Many (especially in Houston) were also very stereotypically Texan haha.

i really don't have an answer as to why things are so dumb here politically. it's ponderous. but dallas is fairly blue. i would surmise houston is about the same. austin and the surrounding hill country is very blue due to the german protestant sensibilities of its colonial ancestry. maybe the rest of the state is fuck dumb. not sure. it's a big place. :lol:

texan politicians are also a fucking nightmare for the whole country. do you realize pete sessions sits at the head of the rules committee? that's by far the most powerful seat in congress, held by a total nutter. also, i would live here just to vote out john cornyn. that guy belongs at whataburger rather than the senate.
