How about we talk about some actual, serious restaurant issues, like when a restaurant only has six or seven vegan options and none of them are made with certified organic, biodynamic, local wholegrain fairtrade ingredients.

Find another establishment.....

I just want to say that I live in Canada, and I find what you're talking about to be the right way. It IS rude to not stay for a while and any restaurant that has a problem with that is a shitty one. Going to a restaurant is about spending time with people, otherwise it would just be an expensive fat ass marathon.

The only instance I can think of that it might be rude to stay, is if you were being rude to the staff, or if the reservations were packed. In the case of reservations, it's likely an important day anyways, so why not stay and enjoy yourself? If not then you're just wasting your time and having an expensive fat ass marathon you could have had at home.

No point in going out if you're not going to make the best of it.
Fast food culture for the fucking lose.
It's not just fast food culture though, it's this underlying culture of rude, anti-social behaviour.

I personally dont even like going into restaurants when they are that busy.

yeah if it seems like theres a wait I'll usually just go to a different restaurant
Only time I'll wait is if I'm getting sushi, because theres only one sushi place in town and its always busy

Also, I can't say I ever come across the issues in the list
I suppose the thing that annoys me the most is the people that always order a steak and no matter what they think it isn't cooked how they said to cook it so they send it back. So then when everyone else is done eating we always have to wait or them to finish since they always end up returning their food.

I find that a lot of people don't know what the cooking terms for steak means. I've been with people numerous times where they ask for a well done steak and then complain because it's cooked too much.

Nothing like a nice medium rare steak though. :sunny:

I think that's because most places don't know how to cook steak. Unless you're going to an expensive restaurant or steakhouse where a steak is at least $50... average restaurants don't properly cook steak. So because of that, I often have to order "rare" in order to get a medium-rare steak. Since restaurants don't want to risk food contamination, they often overcook their steaks.

Must be regional. Here I have to order medium to get medium-rare.

My thoughts on a few topics discussed so far;

A quiet atmosphere, good food, good company, and waiters/waitresses that provide service when asked/summoned. That's what I look for when dining at a restaurant.

People who bring their children or babies along piss me off, but I understand why they do it.

Loud groups, loud people, loud birthday parties(singing, picture taking), they can fuck right off as far as i'm concerned. No one gives a shit about your conversation, what you find hilarious, or how old you are. These people I find to be rude and would be better suited to a barbeque in their backyard than in any public place.

As far as staying a while after the meal is finished, i'll stay for dessert, drinks, whatever. If there's a queue out the door of people who didn't make reservations, who fucking cares? that's why there's a booking system.

If there's no way to book a table, still who fucking cares, I would think it was rude to feel rushed. I'm paying good money to sit here and eat, or drink, or chat, I got lucky with a table, you didn't, whoop de fucking do, try another restaurant like I would have done had the roles been reversed.

If we both made a reservation and i'm taking longer than the restaurant anticipated when they made the second booking, then the fault is with the person who took the booking and expected me to be finished in time. Stop being fucking greedy and treating your patrons like cattle.
