For me, its 1, 3 and 5. Also, when I order breakfast in the morning, I like to read the paper and my breakfast is on the table before I get to read page 2... Like can you slow down a little, I'm want to read a little before I eat. Read my mind god dammit!!!

That's clearly not what they mean by fast service.

abltsandwich said:
There are several that didn't make the list.  One being incompetent wait staff.
Like one time I asked for tomatoes on a grilled cheese.  The single tomato slice I got on it was ice cold, the cheese on the sandwich wasn't melted, and they charged me $0.40 per tomato slice, which they got me for three three at a $1.20 clip.

That has nothing to do with the waitstaff :wtf:

Quote:
Edit Oh yeah and #9 is bad too, tells me they are rushing the dishwashers to "Get it done fast, not well"

Not really how dish works in a restaurant. They rinse the stuff off then run it through the dishwasher, dishes aren't really something you rush or do slowly, it kind of happens at the same speed regardless. Sometimes stuff just comes out dirty and it's on whoever polishes the silverware to catch that (in this case that would usually be the waitstaff).

No, it's just I find some of your positions to be absurd. I comment on those so it's only right I comment on the other.

I'm an equal opportunity commenter.

If you make a reservation, you give me a deposit. If you fail to show up, i keep it.

I personally don't have a problem with that, AS LONG AS you don't charge people who cancel their reservation ahead of time, and if you don't charge people who change their reservation time to a different time slot. That is overkill and not necessary because the people who do that aren't costing your business anything!

But yea, if you want to charge the people who make the reservation and then simply don't call or show up, that I don't have a problem with. I always make sure to call if I'm going to be late for my reservation, or if I need to cancel, and the staff on the other line always thanks me for calling. Apparently many people don't even call.

I'm also a fan of restaurants that don't allow children, or kick out obnoxious or screaming children. My favorite authentic sushi restaurant called Shibucho doesn't allow children in the restaurant at all.

Except then it's the staff being imposed upon. I guess they don't count.

Wtf that's what the staff is there for, to service the guests. That's hardly imposing on them.

When you tie up one of their tables for chit-chat while other customers wait, you are.

If your chit-chat keeps them from their duties, you are.

Except the part you quoted clearly said there are open tables. As long as I can flip a table or I'm not trying to close I don't give a fuck how long someone wants to sit there.

Who are you talking about?

If that was in reference to me, a call to change your reservation time takes less than 30 seconds. That's hardly worth any amount of money at all.

Also, I believe that if somebody is going to sit there for a long time (2 hours or longer), they should tip the wait staff considerably more, simply because you're holding up their table. If there's vacancies and they have idle time, then I guess it doesn't matter.

I quoted a lot of posts in this thread. Some tidbits of info came along late in the game. Reading the entire thread can be helpful if you already haven't.

If there are no customers waiting, you are not being a douche.
I don't see how staying an hour and socializing with drinks and cakes is inconsiderate.

I loved it when customers stayed for a while in the restaurant. I never met any one in the service industry who got pissed off at customers, especially custys who would continue to order.

You are not holding up shit if you continue to order beers, cakes and coffees through out the evening.

I already have. You quoted a single line in which he said there were empty tables, to which you said well then it's imposing on the staff, which is total bullshit because that's what the staff is there to do. As I said, as long as I can flip a table I don't care how long a customer sits there, and it's not rude at all.

Anyway, from the OP the only thing that really bothers me is slow service and fast service. There are times when I can understand slow service though.

Yea, why on Earth would I think that you were responding to me when we were JUST going back and forth with each other?

How about you fucking THINK next time before making insulting statements.

Oh yeah, I don't think that's inconsiderate at all. 1 hour is actually not even staying that long in a restaurant, if you're with a friend you sometimes spend twice that long, like 2 hours sometimes. If you're ordering that entire time instead of just ordering 1 coffee and getting refills on it, then that's totally fine.

Yeah but it is fun to think of tons of different ways to say the same thing.
It's a mental exercise I oft practice.

Hey man, I'm still trying to find your logic though. That's why I'm still reading.

Apparently in your world, if I give the establishment too much business I'm being rude. How does that make sense?
