Just a quick reminder, everybody. No specific details on sites allowed in the thread.

You're OK so far, just don't get specific.

not to push the envelope, but what would be your most helpful instruction to someone in the atlanta area struggling to find appropriate hunting grounds.  that is, the most detailed instructions that you COULD give, without crossing the boundaries of respect for this site and its policies for moderation.
i must admit that as a former grower looking to learn this other facet of the hobby and experience, it can be impossible to achieve success without association with a hunting veteran. it is sometimes such a shame too since there are so many hunting gurus surrounding the metro atlanta area.
as a side question for you georgian posters, is it true that active shrooms grow year round in our wonderful state?
amanitas growing in wet areas of forest along rivers like the chatahoochee during the colder months when psylocybes are not around? (that's not too specific, right?  chatahoochee-ish is a pretty broad generalization)
anyway, i'm a space cake.  anyone with further insight on this topic would be worshipped like the gods that they are.

Look for weiliis bermuda grass in newer(6-8 years old) neighborhoods in the Atlanta area for up to a week after a good rain when temps range 80-90. They should be just starting to pop up. Prime season for Ps. weilii is in the fall.

No. At least not up where I am. The winters are just too brutal. From December to late Febuary this place was a waste land as far as fungus was concerned.

gumby is correct about the bermuda grass, but I have also found them in fescue and crabgrass.  also, from my experience....weillis like to hide underneath the top of the grass, so driving down the road looking for them in lawns is not an easy task, that is unless you have lk's eagle eyes.

thanks for contributing your expertise. these are VERY helpful posts.
i have another question for you georgian hunters. correct me if i'm wrong, but weilii is a fairly newer species to be identified, right? (1995, cherokee county?) it seems to me though that a lion's share of the posts specific to the georgia area over the past couple of years have pertained to the weilii's. it has become everyone's top recommendation for hunting in georgia. now admittedly, some months i keep up with the message boards more than others so maybe i am tuning out all of the other threads, but what did people hunt for before weilii was identified?

Allman, repost this in the gathering forum, if you haven't already and I'll reply in there.

My favorite spots lately have been all these newer business parks all over alpharetta. Most of them have either bermuda, fescue, crabgrass, or a combination of the 3. I have yet to hit a business park without scoring at least a few caps.
