Why do people named Richard like being called Dick? * 2

Could never really figure this one out, it literally makes no sense. Who was the first to do it and why the hell did others follow suit?

No clue I've always wondered that as well. Maybe the first few Richards were Dicks and it just kinda stuck.

That's my name. People sometimes will call me dick when they're messing around or something. My grandfather goes by dick regularly, it's fucking weird.

I have an Uncle Dick.

I don't think anything of it, but when I mention him, people are sorta caught off guard or something.

Ya you want to name them something short with strong vowels. Read that in an article somewhere. My brothers name is Ryan and that's near the top.

Mine is Justin I like it and it's up there too but it's such a common name it does get annoying. Shit there are 3 other dudes with the same name that I work with and a Dustin. Really annoying.

Middle name is Michael after my father.

yeah my name is my great grandfathers, but reversed.....minus the last name his was willard phillip, my name is phillip willard, because phillip was a more modern name :shrug:

I know these 2 brothers and they both go by the name Dick for some reason, so everybody calls them 'big dick' and 'little dick' (big brother/little brother).
