Yeah man, the new album has that sort of feel in it too... I definitely like the sound of running the guitar through a few glitch plugins for some added flare :yesnod:

It's a good'un... I'm glad they decided to take the path of originality... a new direction.

In my opinion the days of 30 breakdowns an album are over. :lolsy:

The lil' sidechained gate/effect thang they throw on the guitar on that thematic riff really makes it.

I thought it was decently produced

The point is to be fairly messy though - that's where the mathcore influence comes in :awesome: and if you don't dig the eclectic nature of that genre nothing will change your opinion...

I for one think it's refreshing to hear something with a bit of electronic influence that doesn't sit in 4/4 time and ride the same tempo/drum beat the entire song through.

I did not want to further an argument based on music which is a relative nature.  I could go on for days about the about the technical production work, but I will leave it to those who enjoy it. no need to spread negativity.

I'm interested in your opinion :awesome: I think the electronic aspects of their music could use better sound design and the mixing a bit of work but its the whole concept that draws me in.

ok, on a second listen with good headphones this is what I hear:

If this is truly one guy playing all the intruments + writing/programming/mixing all the electronic parts as well.  Than my hat is tipped to him, no matter my musical bias.

He has some interesting transitions + sound design.

This is what is lacking for me:

When put on 720p the mix itself as far as spatial mixing sounds ok, but sounds a little squished together.

Overall dynamic range seems a bit limited (This being the biggest factor to me).

During the metal bits seems like low end is seriously compensated, and then when the dubstep kicks in his wobble is very bit crushed which sacrifices harmonic dynamics/purity, and although I hear it used a TON in dubstep, I Feel like most people will also have a backing sine wave or something to make up for lost dynamics.

The dub break with dub bass I actually quite like. once again the bass is what stands out to me.  if he did his own sound design, more power to him, but there is a quality to that specific bass where it sound like distortion was added, but it created some unwanted artifacts that sound displeasing to the ear.  this may also be bit crushing, but it sounds more white noisy to me.

His dubstep drum kit sounds well programmed, but underwhelming.  once again I feel like a small amount of bit crushing was used upon this, as well as some EQ'ing that took away some brightness, as well as some low end punch.

It could all be purposeful, and intentional.  Just goes against the grain of my ear/mind connection.

To tell you the truth, I may have been initially harsher than I Feel now. certainly not my cup of tea, and my girlfriend was like "wtf are you listening to", but I am glad to see someone trying to weave in and out of genre, for it is a personal goal of mine.

Good ears  I agree with most of your prognosis - the low end save for the kick drum unfortunately seems to take the back seat in many metal mixes (gets too cluttered too quickly I guess?). Dude definitely loves his compression and bit crusher though :lolsy:

I was really impressed by Polymorphic Code.  I just heard his new single "synthesiz3rs" and it's pretty decent.  The first 20 seconds is better than the rest of the song though.  Oh well, hopefully the album is on track.

I really do believe it's on the same level as Tool, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, etc... it's just a different genre.  The 1st half of Polymorphic Code changed the way I view music... so many sounds in there that were truly revolutionary to my taste buds musically.  I really hope he delivers in June.

Its different as fuck and I love it. This guy pulled off an odd genre VERY well for what it is, and to know that he did it as 1 guy, well fuck, that is just all kinds of impressive.

You're totally on key when you say it's an odd genre.  I had no exposure to music like this before I heard it.  The closest would probably be KsE or Animals As Leaders.  And those bands don't compare.  This guy is like when Bassnectar meets Ozzy Osbourne.  If he tours North America... wow, I can't explain the number of different substances I'll have in my body at his show.
