Best Places to Stargaze?

I've spent most of my life in big cities, where the light pollution blots out all but the brightest celestial bodies

I remember once when I was a little boy, I took a trip out to the finger lakes in NY State.

It was the first--and last--time I'd ever seen a "curtain of stars." It was magnificent.

Now, as an adult, I would like to see that again.

Any suggestions? Maybe somewhere in "Big Sky" Montana? Maybe somewhere outside Denver?

Just get away from towns. I saw the beehive star cluster with my naked eyes like it was about to get chomped by leo the lion from about a 20 minute drive from a small town of 35,000 or so. It was just a fuzzy patch but seeing it with the naked eye was cool. I live in the midwest.

This past summer, I worked at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon at some resort up there. Stargazing there was amazing, the first night I stared at the curtain of stars all night. Truly one of the most beautiful experiences ever. Astronomers would even come up there to see astrological events because it was so clear.

if you really want to get into it as you stargaze or if you want to use a telescope this sight has a incredible program for your pc you can use to track, find, and descover stars, planets and moons in real time
