Magic 2014 on iPad, anyone?

Is anybody playing Magic the Gathering 2013 or 2014 on their ipad? I haven't played Magic in a long time but I've been playing the iPad version the last couple of days relearning all the rules. It's a free app and you can play against others online.

free ipad app for MtG?
is it any good?
do you have to buy the cards?

i know there is a MtGO you can play, but its like, $9.99 to start up and some of the cards you have to buy...
