Nervous Noob!!!!

First of all, greetings to everyone here at the boards and especially to you experienced mycologists and growers Finally it seems that my grow operation will soon be up and I know you guys will be a great source of help and encouragement.
I have a little background info to give before I should ask my first few simple questions. Approximately 3.5 months ago I took a trip to Nova Scotia and on the way back to the states I bought a spore kit from a headshop in St. John New Brunswick. However, the kit was missing a set of instructions (which I figured wouldn't matter much since I am doing PF tek), but what may matter I think is that I do not know what strain I have! So with that, here's the meat of my maiden post:
1. Is is safe to assume that my spores are most likely a strain of cubensis? or at the very least will be able to grow using the PF tek? ***The spores are in a glass vile; the spores are either very dark brown or near black. They look almost glossy or metallic when looked upon under a bright light.
2. Im worried that there isn't enough spores to make my syringe that beautiful black color I see in some picks. How much spores should I have? There looks to be an insanely small amount in the vile! AHHH
3. I have a 20 ml. syringe. Is that the same as 10 cc like described in the PF tek?
I have read a lot and right now these are the only (stupid) questions that I can't find an answer for. I thank you for any help in advance and cannot wait for responses!

I don't think many head shops would sell anything BUT a common strain of cubensis. So they'll prolly work with PF tek. Some spores are going to look that way, my friend has had syringes look that way before (regarding the spores I mean). The spores are microscopic, so yeah you'll have enough, no worries. 20ml is not 10cc (at least I don't believe so).

A little goes a long way. Dark Syringes are a waste of spores........

1. Cubensis spores are usually purple in appearance. A deep dark purple.
2. I wouldn't worry about the number of spores, it takes very little to make a good syringe.
3. Who cares about the size of the syringe. As long as the grade of the needle is small enough to fit in a hole in the jar, where not using basters in this operation.

Actually, it crossed my mind to describe the spores as a dark purple...but I was afraid that would yield answers I didn't wanna hear It is hard to get a good look at the spores, but they are like I said a dark brown or more accurately (probably) purple. I hope theyre cubensis...really, I just hope they work with PF tek. Wish me luck guys!!!

yea you'll be fine, I've seen syringes that are almost completely clear, just takes a few of the little guys. Oh and just since it hadn't been answered yet 1 ml = 1 cc so you have a 20 cc syringe there.

Cubensis spores are usually described as, purple brown . 20ml = 20cc . your syringe will work fine .

Seriously, thanks again guys. More paranoid noob questions...
1. Do/Should I use the the styrofoam cooler as described by the PF tek, or can I use a rubermaid like I see most people do?
2. If I use an ultrasonic humidifier should I still put the drip shield in anyway.
3. And thirdly what is perlite? Is it used for humidifying? It is not mentioned in the PF tek but could this be a viable option for humidifying?

1.use either a styrofoam or a rubbermaid....what ever suits your budget.
2.forget the drip shield.
3.use hydroton/geolite, not perlite.

how important is the whole umidity thing, im not using any form of humidity equipment other than natural evaporation and my shrooms are growing fine.
