styrofoam

I have a bunch of the styrofoam coolers you'd see at a gas station, is there anything wrong with casing a mixture in them? Thanks

Well... tho only problem your going to have is with space. A cooler (the way your discribing) sounds way larger than a little plastic try that most people use. I think a styrofoam cooler would be more appropriate as a fruiting chamber or incubator.

No. You might want to put drainage holes on the bottom, though, unless you're really good at not misting it too much.

I'm talking about using it to case and as a fruiting chamber (it looks like a rubbermaid just styrofoam w/ a lid. I was told that if i wanted to, i could do this with a rubbermaid, right?

That was my first fruiting chamber. It was a medium sized cooler. I used perlite on the bottom and simply used saran wrap for the top. I had a couple runs in that chamber.

The first was with about 6 cakes (which pretty much filled the bottom of the cooler without cramming them in). I did not spray at all and fanned infrequently and irregularly. I got mild success and peculiarly fat and stumppy fruit. My fault was with fanning and probably lack of spraying.

The second go, I raised the cakes off the bottom by 6 inches. I feel this served to increse the time needed between fanning as it allowed for the CO2 to sink below the cakes. In addition, I sprayed with every fanning, and fanned much more regularly (not excessively, just with regularity.) Results were picture perfect.

No reason for it not to work is set up properly.
