The remaining dead members are coming together to do two exclusive shows with a holographic Jerry Garica THIS JULY. While some people might find this upsetting I am really excited because Ill have an oppertunity to go to a show and "see" Jerry for the first time ever since I was a kid when he died. One will be held at MSG in Ny and one in San Fran. The Jerry Garcia has been programmed from hundreds of hours of his performances so they put together the best Jerry moments possible for a one night performance.
How does this make you feel? Whose going? I know I am.



Ok so it was an April fools day joke I thought it was real, how horrible. Anyway for sake of conversation and this thread would you go to a show like this? I would Anyday. What bands would you see that have a holographic person playing who has passed?

Wow, I'm not sure how I feel about this.
I would love to see it but would prefer them to not resurrect a deceased man.

Yea but it's for the legacy really. Think about it, all of Jerry's finest moments ever captured on tape and arranged into a one night concert. How mind blowing is that? And all you have to do is close your eyes and believe he is there and he will be(with the help of drugs lol). Plus what's the difference of listening to him on a cd anyway, this time his picture will just be there too.

Either way the youngest generation of dead heads can finally go to a show and "see" Jerry on stage. It's all about the spirit and magic of Jerry

I mean lets be honest here I'm not sure how I feel about this.  On one hand it is really neat technologically.  On the other shouldn't one observe some sort of reverence for the man's life and work?

One thing is for sure, it'll be a neat concert if it will look good.

I'd rather see the whole band as a hologram/recording of some epic show, than watch the remaining members play along with a recording of Jerry. It would really take away the improvisational ethos that defines this music.

any pre-recorded guitar work would cut completely against the grain of everything the boys stood for musically... there is no room for improvisation if yr lead guitar can't take the left at Albuquerque with ya... Jerry said something once, recall doesn't serve me so i'll paraphrase: "treasure the moment, not the artifact".. i'd much rather hear a live John K. or Steve Kimock feel & interpret the music than to watch a prerecorded hologram... & i think Jerry would too...

on a separate, but related note: i was digging around for that quote i can't exactly recall... & every page of Jerry quotes on the interwebs is full of Grateful Dead lyrics...  none of which were written by Garcia... Robert Hunter, bitches... respect...

for like $20 it might be cool to see a holographic grateful dead a la 1969, but there's no way that could happen at anywhere near that price level, maybe in ten years.

I heard the company that did the Tupac hologram went bankrupt. I'm waiting for the holographic porn. That's where the money is.
