parody threads in the pub
    #19685447 -

this is a topic for intelligent discussion

so the policy in the pub is to lock any and all parody threads

I think it makes sense to lock parody threads if they're not funny, but I think funny parody threads actually add good content to the pub, which it could honestly afford to have

parody threads can be epic at times

in this post you can see several people already agreeing with me

maybe have a limit of one parody thread per thread made, and one parody thread by user per week?

what do you think? is it a good idea to allow parody threads or not?

I think they can be pretty funny. It just gets annoying when there are 4 or 5 about the same thread.

My personal opinion is that they are funny when done right and when it's the first one.
But the feelings of the person who's thread is the basis of the parody thread must also be taken into account - some people would find it amusing, others would feel it as a belittling attack.

dude quit hating on me so much. even if that particular parody isn't epic, some parody threads can be. i for one think my parody was decent enough to not deserve to be locked, at least. you seem just butthurt that everytime you try to argue with me you probably end up feeling publically embarassed since you randomly disappear from the argument whenever it becomes obvious that you're losing. in any case that isnt what this thread is about, just make your choice and state your opinion about the thread topic

and that is supposed to be really important? i mean, confucious attempts a belittling attack in this thread and it's not even trying to be funny in anyway. people get belittled all the time. the question is, what's more important for the greater good of the forum?

I think it is wrong to parody something.  Somebody put hard work into something and then you come along and make fun of it, and probably do a better job than the original.

That's just not right.

That's just not right at all...

Somebody please think of the children next time you attempt to bring humor into a dull day.

well I for one I have seen the first page of some forums become diluted with shitty parodies, and parodies of parodies

I had a totally serious thread that was asking for donations so I could buy a pack of newports after spending the last of my money huffing duster and it got deleted and I had to resort to picking butts off the ground and rolling them up in a piece of newspaper right before I hit the jankem and banged some 5-MeO-W and it was a good Friday night if I ever heard of it.

This post is the perfect example of why there shouldn't be parody threads. Its just a bunch of people who have taken their relationships with the people on this website far too seriously and it ends up being a bunch of circle jerking about how awesome/douchey the person who made the original thread is or the person who made the parody is.

Plus, how do you decide who's thread is the bestest parody? First come first serve? So I can just make a really horrible parody of every single popular thread to kill the concept entirely.

Plus you've been kind of annoying me lately

Would a parody of a parody have a serious message?
