Vocal Mic and Ableton

So there is a group called Pentatonix, my favorite a capella group i've heard yet, and i have some serious cash coming with this tax return and wanted to get the mic they use.

Its a hefty piece of mechanics, but i'm more than a newbie to recording audio. I can sing, and have been for a long time, but i want to be able to do it in the privacy of my own place and record at a high quality. It says it's USB, but i'm somewhat doubting it'll draw the power from that as well, which is why it comes with the XLR connectors, right?


SO, my main question, aside from getting a pop filter, is what other hardware would i need to be able to fully record my voice into Ableton for arranging/equalizing?

When you're looking to buy a piece of equipment that you have never seen in person and tested, you should pay very close attention to the bad reviews.

Read those 1 star ratings and then consider buying it.

srsly, I used it in my horrible echoey room and it was completely unusable.  Plus anytime a car drove by outside it picked it up in the recording...

I found it technically pretty easy to work with in my DAW and interface.  I just wish that I had, had a decent room, it seemed like it would be great in the right room.  But I got rid of it, and picked up a SM-7B and now it will be a while before I have the bucks to drop on a condenser mic.




This is very true.

I own this same Mic, and while the quality is great for being a USB microphone.


But if you don't have an option to build a little sound proof room, you might look into investing into one of these.

I know a few people who use this and it seems to work fairly well.


But that microphone IS all you need to record your vocals/instruments (if you wish) into Ableton.


I use Ableton and it syncs right up to it, you just have to choose it
from your Audio Track -> Audio From -> and choose what device you're sending to your audio track.



Definitely look at reviews though.

I own it, the blue one, I got a pretty good deal on it from a friend but it's definitely quality and does the job.
