So many people would be better off with this advice:


In general we look for a new law by the following process. First we guess it. Then we compute the consequences of the guess to see what would be implied if this law that we guessed is right. Then we compare the result of the computation to nature, with experiment or experience, compare it directly with observation, to see if it works. If it disagrees with experiment it is wrong. One of his biggest achievements was disproving our IQ notion of intelligence.

James Gleik, author of 'Chaos: Making a new Science', wrote a biography on him titled 'Genius', and he wasn't (even? <- :roll eyes:) in Gifted in school.

i recently found copies of his Lectures on Physics that were in good condition (albeit i spent a good chunk of money on them). i haven't had a chance to really delve in to them, but i'm excited to do so over the summer when i will have several weeks to do so. it's pretty exciting.

the PBS NOVA biography? yeah, i've seen it a couple times.

while his lectures are free online through caltech, i have a hard time reading things at length on teh interwebz. i love to have something tangible to hold and i absolutely love the smell and feel of books. there is something soothing about holding a book in your hands, feeling the texture of the pages between your fingers, being able to snuggle up with one an forget the world around you.


maybe it's just me.
