then they made an error in logic. those mushrooms actually look alot like the toxic conocybe terena. related to the deadly galerenas. amanotoxins are bicyclic octopeptides. meaning your liver basically gets sick, then a few days later, rots while trying to filter your blood of its own toxic excrement. a real horrible way to die. i wonder if that girl in ontario that thought she had liberty caps earlier this month pulled through? lat i heard she was almost dead

no they dont. they look more like this Conocybe rickeniana, very common in the UK if not THE most common toxic mushroom notice the dark brown, even somewhat purple hue in the stipe.

they don't look as yellowy as the Conocybe rickeniana.. they look more light brown/creamy.. the gills seem darker too

I don't think it looks like that at least, it looks way too light and the gills look too light and creamy.
Hopefully they'll just be inactive and nothing will happen at all, I have tried to disencourage them from doing more!

What is the best way to tell, conocybe teneras from semis? I can see from your picture Mitchnast that their is no pronounced nipple on them and that theyre a lighter colour, but is there a method to tell? although i am 90% i could tell them apart. I am going picking tommorw, dont want to posion my self. p.s Jeemer, even i can tell that them mushrooms posted are not semis. i have no exp picking them, but have done alot of reasearch and seen alot of pictures. your friends may need a liver transplant this time next week

You obviously don't possess the required knowledge to hunt mushrooms. Why don't you just give up and find another hobby? How about stamp collecting or fudge packing?

To whom did you intend to reply? I'm sure (I strongly hope, anyway) that you didn't mean to reply to Mitchnast.

ya, i hope so too, but seriously, we have already had a volley of harsh feelings towards said posters actions, it really needn't be continued further, that takes away from the learning and turns it onto an semi-organized hate-in

Good comparison pics of Conocybe rickeniana and the other conocybes Mitchnast. It seems the conocybes are mistaken a lot by the newbies as being liberty caps. Of course if they would take a SPORE PRINT first, before assuming they are psilocybes, there would be less confusion on an ID.
