How do you refer to years in the 2000 millennium?

Tomorrow is going to be 2014. How do you say it? Two thousand fourteen, or twenty fourteen?
I got news for you. If you say two thousand fourteen, you're doin' it wrong. Everyone here was born in the 1900s or earlier (they better be, at least). They all said nineteen-something when talking about a year. Can you imagine telling people you were born in one thousand nine hundred eighty five? Or one thousand nine hundred ninety four? No, because that sounds stupid as shit, right? So stop doing it now that it's the 2000 millennium. It kinda worked when it was 2001-2009, but now that it's not, cut that shit out and stop saying dates like an asshole.

I don't like using the "twenty" prefix on the years of 2000-2009. Saying Yeah so back in "Twenty-oh-three" sounds too weird. I just say "two-thousand-three"

Twenty-something. 2000-2009 were only called "two thousand etc." because it seemed the simplest way to deal with the fact that "twenty one" generally is taken to mean 21, etc. But now that the tens place is higher than zero, we can relax and say "twenty fourteen", etc. because it can't be misconstrued.

From 2000 to 2009, I used to write the date: xx/xx/0 or xx/xx/8 whenever I had to write it, like on a check.
