Senseless drug use = rewarding yourself needlessly

I think that if you use drugs senselessly, they may sooner or later have a negative effect on your life because society is not centered around people that feel good for no reason.
I feel like i have been doing it to myself, chemically releasing reward chemicals in my brain for no good reason besides introspection and slacking off. Sure if that is what you need to do to get by then reward yourself all you want. But my midterm grades are so fucked up, I think it was from an unconscious cycle of rewarding myself for stupid behavior, I guess that's how these things start.
From now on I think the change I'm gonna be doing in life is only reward myself when I get good exam scores, that way I can kind of rewire myself to be even more motivated to study and go to tests as well as chemically induce the reward system for good behavior and get my grades up. Kind of like some fucked up self induced psychology programming.
I know it's not a perfect solution, but I feel like this will get me through college until i can get the knowledge i need to be self sufficient and free of worries as far as getting by and money goes.
So yeah this my rant about using drugs to trick yourself into doing good things for yourself instead of slacking

You may end up an addict, but at least you'll get good grades...
EDIT: That's better than ending up an addict and getting shitty grades though I guess.

i always say i'm going to make this change, and it never happens. my only "instant gratification button" is mmj. that's not so bad, but tolerance develops pretty quickly with heavy use. but i can get my tolerance back down pretty far with just a week break.
but yea i agree, the best way to do it would probably be; do something productive, and then reach for the "instant gratification button". rather than just say, hitting that button all the time while doing nothing throughout the day.

You know you can post more topics like this that are only and entirely drug related in Other Drugs Discussion. Whatever point you're trying to make in your OP doesn't really fit in the pub. Just sayin' ... if you had a realization that you need to work harder and stop rewarding yourself so much then that's great

Lol yea man. But I will get where I need to be while having a little fun at the same time :P
Also I can't reward myself senselessly so unless I have been doing so many good things for myself i wouldn't have to use drugs to feel good about what I do and the drug use can lessen a bit to make way for my sober life

Sorry I just think something like this would fit better in ODD, but yes it still does fit in the pub too. I guess it depends what type of responses you're looking for.
But yea you're gonna get better results if you're not "rewarding yourself needlessly" this kinda follows the logic of drinking some booze on Friday night after working Mon-Fri. Not everyone "earns" that Friday night, but most do. I think it's pretty universal to get more from your high if you've accomplished something that makes you proud since the last time you got high. I spent a few years smoking weed everyday and realized it wasn't even fun anymore because I wasn't doing anything. Nowadays getting high is more rewarding because I've actually done something cool since the last time I was high.

this practice is what we should call "addiction etiquette"
the proper way to indulge in your addictions, for your health!

IMHO, getting good grades is a lot about...
- getting up early and taking a shower
- spending a lot of time studying outside of your house/dorm
- planning out what u want to accomplish each day
- drinking coffee while working and waiting to take a dump every day
- kind of having fun doing the work (kind of being a dork about it)

At least I have 3 and 5 down. Does 1 help a lot? I always feel like not getting up.

This is a very puritanical and dangerous point of view. I would argue that society is definitely centered around people feeling good for no reason. Prime example: Alcohol. Another example? Sex, fun, games, socializing, video games, music, art, fiction, these are all things intended to make people feel good for no reason.
There is no reason why people shouldn't feel good when they can feel good, that's just silly.
