Patent...

My humble brain has come up with a few ideas that
I've decided I want materialized into a few millions
dollars  :eyemouth:
Anyone here have any experience with getting a Patent ?
esp up here in Canada ?
Also, are there any easier alternatives than getting
a patent to safeguard an idea ?

I have a good marketing tool.. some extremely hot chick that fronts a metal band. Just like a hotter Britney Spears, except with metal. There is a big fucking audience to be made there, and I guess if you are the one who gets her famous, you would be free to receive some fringe benefits... :grin:

The easiest (and cheapest) way to make an idea your own is to write down a detailed account of...whatever, then mail it to yourself. The post office will date-stamp your envelope, so as long as you keep your package sealed you have proof that this idea was yours before anyone else thought of it.

This is all perfectly legit and legal, if my law student friend is to be believed at all.

*technically* this is both legal and legit, but it makes for a very weak argument in court (that, and of course, there's also the fact that there isn't even a guarentee that it'll also work in Canada)

I would suggest going here instead.

[EDIT] I have absolutely no idea how legit this is (I just pulled it off the net in a two second google search) so, you might want to do your own two second search to see what you can find out about it before you just go right out and send your ideas off to someone you know absolutely nothing about.

i know this works for copywrites, but a patent must be obtained from the US (or wherever) patent office. in order to do this your invention must meet certain requirements, although some of the shit they let by is absolutely preposterous.
