What do you guys think about that reddit user who claims to have been arrested?

"I was arrested by FBI and local police for attempt to purchase and possession of narcotics on Tuesday and just had bail posted this morning. I only ever made purchases on SilkRoad and never sold. I always encrypted my stuff, but they busted a vendor I bought from apparently and that individual kept the post-decryption plaintext on his hard drive =/. They've got like a month's worth of correspondence and package watching on my address. Unfortunately, I still had some of the product (felony quantity) so that's where the possession charge comes from."

He says he encrypted all his shit, but does that ultimately matter? Isn't it just a matter of a vendor you used getting busted and leaving your info sitting around?

I saw a thread about that. Supposedly that person bought from NOD, a vendor that got busted the same day as DPR. The feds had been watching them for a while, so it's likely that anyone who placed an order with NOD recently is going to be visited soon. As far as anyone can tell this is the result of them dealing with a vendor that was already being monitored for making errors in their shipping and handling department, not the result of any sophisticated crack of encrypted messages.

Until I see that he's a member of a respected community (either bluelight, drugsforum, shroomery) I wouldn't take it as the gospel.  Any jackass can make shit up on reddit.

From my understanding (and take this with a grain of salt, not stating this as fact, just what I heard) the problems with him arose largely due to the fact that he was shipping large amounts of packages, with the same exact handwriting and packaging style, but using multiple return addresses.  Apparently this caught someone's attention.  I'm not sure whether there had been eyes on his packages before or not.  Maybe they had been watching him, looking for something suspicious and THEN noticed that, or maybe the suspicion arose from that and led them to investigate...  Either way, that was at least one mistake this person apparently made.

i would personally be wary of any new sites in the next few months.

could be a honeypot.  wait it out for a clear winner to emerge as the replacement or make sure it's a site that has been around a whiel

I don't believe the DEA would facilitate millions of dollars worth of drug sales to possibly catch a few dealers.

That's why you use PGP encryption. Don't rely on the host site for anything.
Keep JS disabled in your TOR browser. Don't click on external application documents to download them (PDF, Word, etc.). Don't visit clearnet sites in the same session. etc.
That way even if it is a honeypot, they cannot trace it back to you. As long as you trust the vendor, then there is no issue. TOR is not broken.
