For reals though, just think of the old adage, "the grass is always greener on the other side".

If you truly want "drug freedom", and to be away from prying eyes, your best choice is to move to move to the woods, or a rural area that is not to rednecky. The west coast it pretty good for that, as I am sure other places around Colorado and the east coast(but I am unfamiliar with those areas). Stay away from big cities, find a chunk of land where you can grow your pot with a licence. Somewhere not to far that you can't hit up a good festival in a car for your other non growable substances. Close to a disc golf course would't hurt either. Don't look like a dirty hippie or a gutter punk and keep the "bad cop no doughnut" sticker of your bumper. Most importantly don't be a dumbass, basically talking to much.

The states are not that bad.

Yeah, I hear that. My best childhood friend is a real estate agent and his dad has rented property for years now. I'd kind of hope to have a property management company/my friend do all the dirty work for me. I could just be the money/idea kind of guy.

I don't know.... I'm just an idealistic 26 year old traveling English teacher right now

The states are becoming progressively worse. We've lost pretty much all our rights with the patriot act and we all know how easy it is to be called a terrorist these days. We've lost other rights as well. Now the President can hold you indefinitely. Great. No problem.

It isn't paranoia when they really are out to get you....

Why not go to backwoods of Montana (or was it Idaho? lol idk) where the unibomber went to disappear?

Go there, OP. Get yourself a cabin. But then again you'd probably start being paranoid of bears and mountain lions. Idk bro you're pretty much fucked.

It seems that they just keep whittling away our rights little by little over the years. I'm pretty paranoid about them going all 1984 (more so) on us. Totalitarian control, all that jazz.

Maybe it won't get that far, and the country will just schism.

But yeah, does anyone have any idea if I would be better off in canada or the UK? English speaking would be nice, but I'm open to a totally new culture. This is all hypothetical at the moment.

Drug legality gives a country bonus points. I know peyote is legal in UK so thats a biggg bonus

didn't read a damn thing but peyote is also legal in canada. sorry if somebody already stated it.

Okay. One, its not all about drug freedom. I do what I do regardless of the local laws.

Two: My paranoia of the US government watching me would likely not "follow me" to other lands. I'm not crazy, just don't like the way the country is run.

Three: My way of life, and my philosophy on life, is not supported in the states. I would be leaving for the reason some of the original colonists left europe, for religious freedom.

I cannot share my 'religion' properly with people. I cannot openly talk about the things I find most interesting and puzzling. (psychedelics states, what they mean etc) This is why I do not feel "free" in america. this is why I want to leave.

Yes I am very lucky to live in a safe, food rich place. But it doesn't mean I shouldn't seek my own personal freedom to do what makes me happy.

Alright then.

I'll give you an acre land north of the 70th parallel, a shotgun and 5 rounds.

Welcome to Canada

Understandable.

As far as religous freedoms... are you thinking about something like this?

That is what I get from them. I have seen them in the news a bit and fought for their religious freedom to practice it.
Not to far form them eh...? I am about a 45 minute drive from there.
Was just thinking I might want to contact them, after research of course.

To the OP: if you're an American citizen, then you can live here (Micronesia) for as long as you want without visa dramas... tropical islands, warm waters, great fishing/surfing/scuba diving, totally laid back way of life, no malaria, nothing really too dangerous. Its a fairly off-the-grid kind of place - no traffic lights in the entire country, no breathalysers, no street names, no big brother...

But you also get a dysfunctional government, chronic power/water outages, shitty healthcare, limited choices in everything, crazy expats (like me) etc...

that sounds awesome

So.... Do you just like, grow shrooms and weed all the time then? I would... I mean, I'm assuming that's the kind of place where you wouldn't get raided by anyone but pirates.
