Youtubers giving to homeless people to make themselves look good?

So, there's this thing where a lot of people on youtube record themselves giving shit away to homeless dudes on the street. Example...







There's many more out there. Sometimes it seems like the people making the videos are being genuinely nice, but it raises the question...

Why do they feel the need to get e-famous and show everybody how nice they are?

Just seems like a lot of these people don't understand homelessness.

On a side note, I've got an itching suspicion some of them staged the whole shebang. :shrug:

OP i thought the same thing as well. I believe you are correct in some cases, actually I'm willing to bet your opinion is right the majority of the time. I do believe some are displaying the videos online to inspire and motivate others to follow suit. Perhaps it's simply wishful thinking on my part, but I still feel some are doing good for all the right reasons.

I can see they're doing a good thing, but sometimes they talk down to the people they're giving stuff to, talking to them patronizingly and stuff as if they're a whole different species or something. Pretty rude

I saw a video on TV today of this usual douchebag who pranks people, he went out, found a homeless dude, bought him clothes, haircut, shower, steak dinner. Now the dude has raised over 4k $ to get the homeless mans bad teeth taken out surgically.


I may be a bitch, but this story made me tear up. I felt so moved by how happy the homeless man was that I even donated $20 to help him get his teeth pulled.

There was this fad where teenagers from around here would go up to homeless people(and/or mentally handicapped individuals as well) and video tape themselves beating the ever-loving shit out of them :mad2:





....I would much prefer something like this to catch on, even if it simultaneously makes me roll my eyes.
