New Black Sabbath Album.

That God is Dead song was pretty cool maybe just a bit long, I haven't heard anything else. Definitely have to check it out. They don't have Bill Ward though, Sabbath's original drummer, and that's a damn shame because Bill Ward is so big in Sabbath... that breakdown in Iron Man :drooling: I think I read he wanted to be payed equal shares or something. Whatever, fuck Sharon Osbourne. It does take away a good bit of my excitement for this new album though.

They have the drummer for Rage filling in and he did a perfect job IMO. The album sounds like it was recorded decades ago.

I was hoping for some split guitar riffs like you hear on the Paranoid album, but it didn't happen.

I think the guitars on this were kind of like solo Ozzy stuff from the 80's on a few tracks and a couple of the songs had a BLS feel to them, but mostly it just reminded me of the best parts of Sabbath.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this album so far.
I have yet to hear a song I dislike.

Everything else they've released since 1978 is garbage.

After not being too sure of it at the start I've come to love it, Iomis' still the riff master and ozzy does what he can with his current vocal range, it's much better than the last few solo albums that's for sure.
'Loner' is probably my favourite track, classic sabbath, sounds like it could have been on volume 4, closely followed by 'Damaged Soul', I feel ozzy put a lot of heart into the lyrics of this album.
The new Orchid album is amazing too, those guys borrow a lot from the sabbath sound and are criticised for it a lot, but they rule just as much as sabbath did in their earlier years.

Have you ever given the first two albums with Dio a good listen to? I used to be an Osbourne elitist when it came to this band, I was close minded man, some of the best songs ever written are on those albums in my opinion.

True. Heaven and Hell is an awesome song.

I find Dio's solo material much better than his stuff with Sabbath. His is the best voice in all of metal.

Yeah arguably the best for sure, I'd say he's definitely the greatest when it comes to ability and one of my favourites, I liked how Sabbath allowed him to show his darker side.
I'm into his solo stuff too, what would you recommend I check out next Elf or Rainbow? For some reason I've never brought one of their albums.
I'm going to buy the deluxe addition of Thirteen (didn't realise at the time that there was one) to hear the other tracks the band have recently recorded.
