Incubation Temperature Control & To Tape?

Hi this is my first post; I'm new around here. I've been reading up lots in the forums and FAQS but have a quick question.

My incubation location is at about 70 degrees, which I realize is below optimal. I want to stay cheap and simple; so without buying a heating pad or anything is a there an easy way to raise the temperature? Or very cheap with rubbermaid/heating pad?

I have a reading light with like a 50 watt bulb in it. Would it be worthwhile to put this on (24/7 or on a timer) facing away from my jars with a big blanket surrounding the whole thing?

Also; I put foil over the tops of the jars in the PC to prevent water from dripping down from the lid. Should this be put back on after innoculation? Is putting medical tape over the holes instead of the foil after innocluation worthwhile? Fewer contams? Less air exchange resulting in longer colonization time?

The jars have are B+. Thanks in advance!

keep the light awy for the jars when colonizing them you don't want any light to be no where near the jars because this will tell the mycelium to start pinning before it's 100% colonized and trust me you don't want that

So either be happy with 70 degrees or get a fish tank heater?

there are many ways to skin a cat: heat pads, fishtank heaters, hot water bottles, naturally warm places (top of fridge), waterbeds....; don't use the lightbulb as a heatsource, as monkey said. jars must colonise in complete darkness; yeah, throw the foil away after inoculation. so long as you have a dry verm layer, no hole cover is required. quicker without, in fact.

B+ will give you some big shrooms.  :thumbup:
