Shed in Chicago is nice but if you can afford it Paradise Island is incredible they even have pellagic fish like tuna and dolphin.

When we were kids my friend had a 20 gallon tank with mollies swordtails and platys and  a few algae eaters well he puts a 5" albino channel cat in and within an hour he was all that was left that S.O.B. ate all the other fish in the tank. :lolsy:

it could survive for weeks on that supply of food. what a greedy cat.

i've been to shedd's once but it was miserably crowded. kind of ruined it.

i used to really be into the idea of having an aquarium but i know nothing about it so i gave up on it, especially after i realized how expensive it could be. i always kind of imagined something nightmarish happening if i had an aquarium in my house. :uhoh:

Does shedds still have the alligator snapper it has been years since I have been there? The national aquariums in Baltimore and the one in Manteo N.C are both nice.

Here's the planted setup:

I had to manually convert my waterfall filter from carbon to mechanical.
They didn't have non-carbon filters for my model, so I bought some mechanical foam filters and tore them into smaller sections.
That way they could fit into the spot my filter had held the carbon.
Considering how much sediment the 10 gallon had initially, I'd say they're working pretty well.

The plants are an amazonian sword and wisteria.
I'm gonna get some other plants over time to fill it out a little more.

i used to have a gorgeous cichlid for a few years, it got some kind of fungal infection and there was nothing i could do to save it.  it was about 9" long  got it at about maybe 1" long so i had it for a while and it was mean as fuck, that's why i got it in the first place.  started in a 10 gallon and moved it to a 30 gallon by the end.  i loved watching it devour feeder fish every once in a while that sumbitch was vicious. was really sad to see it go, never had the heart to replace it.  RIP

So I killed two of my tetras after a routine water change.

The third tetra was also acting funny initially, so I quickly moved them to another container.
I think the other two were too stressed because they both died, but the third one bounced back after about ten minutes.
My pleco seems to still be doing fine though.

I still haven't seen an ammonia spike in my planted tank. How long should it take for one to occur?
