Questions for High Mountain Compost
    #1805239 - 08/12/03 10:58 AM (21 years, 3 months ago)

HMC, somebody was asking me for advice on purchasing compost recently, and some questions about your product came up.

1. What is the volume per weight? As in X quarts per pound, x ft^3 per X pounds etc.
2. How long do you recomend it be stored in original packaging before use?
3. Have you considered selling a dried compost similar to what mycotapro has? He basically makes the compost, shreds it, then dries to a moisture content of around 10 so it can be stored and shipped more easily.

That's it, thanks in advance.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

high mountain compost seems to have a habbit of letting questions adressed to them un-answered.

1.5 lbs of compost makes approx 2-1/2 qts( 1 qt. jars) l
2. 3 - 6 months, cool. dark,clean place
3. nope, we have success with the way we are doing it, because we have better control over the quality of the product....we cannot control how it is re-hydrated, which could ultimately lead to contamination.

thank you for your questions and your interest..
Sorry for the delay in replying, we have been very busy, and also have been experiencing server problems.

We endeavor to answer all questions relating to our compost selling business in a timely manner.... we have a large correspondence via email, at  highmountain@olypen.com, and cannot always be on top of questions via the Shroomery....mainly because these questions ask things like .."how do I gro mushrooms in this compost", or what are the ingredients in your compost, etc......"
We sell compost, we assume you know how to grow whatever it is you want to grow in anyone's compost...we also assume that anyone would understand why we don't give out our recipe for our compost.
HMC

If you are interested in  our compost, PLEASE do not hesitate to email us with questions regarding costs, shipping times, availablity...we will reply within a day of reciving ytour questions.

You know, you have a good idea....and we are already thinking about this....

However, Home Depot and Lowe's require volume production...we are just really getting into this seriously...it takes 2 months to process the product properly....there's an old saying..."if it's worth having, it's worth waiting for"...you get the idea, it takes time.

However, in the meantime, we  have quality control over what we're selling, and we know it's good and we learned a long time ago, shortcuts don't work!  ...so, as far as the revolution goes, we hope we can slowly, but surely kick it up with the best compost on the market!

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I too sent a similar email to High Mountain with no response and this seems to be the only thread that addresses the question.

When you say "approx 2-1/2 qts( 1 qt. jars) l", do you just mean 2.5 quarts? I'm sorry for asking such a stupid question, but the formatting was confusing me and considering the expense of your product, I would hate to miscalculate my order based on a simple misunderstanding.
