colon/endoscopy
    #17876000 -

i'm going in for my initial consultation tomorrow and then they make the appointment. i'm scared to death and taking etizolam like 10mg every 4 hours. the fear is not the procedure, that won't even happen tomorrow, but i'm scared to death of what all they'll find with my constant yearly abusive diet. i got it under control lately, but i'm fearing massive colitis and polyups which could fuck my entire rainbow mining operation during the early part of the year. or hell. i could just eat a shitload of psyllium husk and shit those polyups right out, maybe lots of little perfectly shaped obsidian flakes. ahh sagebrush bottlebrush up the ass  and down the throat. i think we have a winner.

Endoscopy isn't bad and you get a good sleep. However colonoscopy is a different story the prep is absolutely miserable starvation for most of the day than sitting on the toilet into wee hours of the night.

fuck that, i'd rather lay in the bathtub and refill again and again, at least until the majority is out. this is gonna suck and so will the results. i can tell. hot showers will be amazing i'm sure during the cleanout.

I've had 4 colonscopies and 2 endoscopies....

Do you have any symptoms? Or are you just paranoid about your diet?

I've had Ulcerative Colitis for over 10 years and I still don't have any polyps or scar tissue....you should be okay. If it makes you feel any better, the human body is really good at repairing itself. My colon at 10 years old looked horrible... I just had my most recent colonoscopy last December and my colon is almost completely normal. I give cannabis most of the credit tbh...the pharmaceuticals for GI issues are all junk

Hope everything goes well for you OP.

TMI, I know, but my husband used those soothing butt wipes during the prep for his colonoscopy b/c hot water actually made him very uncomfortable.

But the procedures, both colon- and endoscopy on the same day, ended with no real negative effects, stem to stern.  He woke up an hour after asking when the doc was going to get started.  Hooray for anaesthesia.

You don't KNOW it's going to be serious.  You seem to have strong conviction that things are going to have much worse scenarios than  they turn out to be.

You're still young and most likely you'll be fine.  Unless you've been shitting blood or drastically losing weight, you shouldn't be as worried as you are.

The benzos are used because they need to ventilate you while doing the procedure.  Without it you could have major bronchospasms from the ventilation and general anaesthesia.  You'll be fine, stop freaking out so much.

To piggyback liquid unless you have blood in your stool and because you're young most likely it won't be anything super serious. I've had every gastro, colon test on that planet because I was losing serious weight and not keeping anything down. And they never found anything serious.

Little blood spots can happen to anybody.

I'm talking about consistently getting streaks of blood EVERY TIME you have a bowel movement.

i'm talking alot of blood but on occasion, sometimes every day 5 times a day 10 drops to a squirt per second. sometimes i go months without this, then it just explodes and plagues me for days or months even. i'm a very strange one medically and the hardest patient my doctors have ever seen. i just want relief, from this and my other ailments.

TBH it sounds like you might have a case of mild ulcerative colitis. When the disease is mild it can go into remission on its own and then come back randomly. I'm not trying to scare you and I'm not a doctor but UC is a perfectly manageable condition. If you are worried about cancer...bowel cancer is very rare in people under the age of 40

If the blood is bright red, then it's coming from your colon. If it's darker, then it's coming from further up in your intestinal tract.

Once again, good luck man.

it's bright blood but sometimes on a lesser frequency tarry, but not bloodlike at all. i've been told a possibility is ulceratice colitis as well too. i'm doubting cancer, as the multiple blood tests over the years would have already indicated that. what's the usual treatment for ulcerative colitis involve, besides a careful diet obviously?

Well if it's really bad they will start you on prednisone. I was on that drug for a solid 5 years...it's a catch 22 medication, it works very well but the side effects are so bad that you can't take it for long periods of time.

If it's mild they will put you on a drug called mesalamine which is basically an anti-inflammatory for your colon. I didn't find it very effective and the side effects include diarrhea, cramps and nausea

They also prescribe immunosupressants like 6mp which really did nothing to me except weaken my immune system.

Finally there are drugs like remicade and humira, both of which work fairly well for some people but the side effects can be pretty bad (I experienced anaphylactic shock during my last infusion)

Not trying to play scare mongerer but these are just my experiences with the drugs given out for UC. To be completely honest my disease went into complete remission when I quit all the pharmaceuticals and started smoking weed every day...no joke :pimp3:

That's a good plan. Try to figure out your "trigger" foods as far as diet goes. AKA foods that trigger your symptoms to flare up..for me it's anything dairy, gluten, spicy food, meat...avoid your "trigger" foods like the plague.

The benzo thing can help but I wouldn't go that route on a daily basis. They are nice to have around but taking them daily can actually disrupt the normal flow of the human gastrointestinal system.
