I'm sure there's some underground shit which has some heat now, but I have stopped listening to the radio long ago and mainly comb through underground records/ boom bap from the 1990s. Doesn't have to be new to be new to me. I like conscious rap, gangsta, hardcore, horror core, and sometimes just plain strange. Rap from the east, south, west, and bay area. I can't be the only one either. I'm real light skinned as in in no matter how much sun I get I don't really tan. I remember watching MTV in the 90s and seeing the Eminem videos and secretly liking it. I changed school districts and the school I started going to had a larger population of Mexican and black students. My new best friend was black and got me listening to more rap. I didn't have to hide my liking of it anymore so over the next 11 years I embraced my liking and listened to countless hip hop records. I started out on that commercial radio shit and fake gangster stuff, but progressed over time. I'm going to post a bunch of tracks I enjoy. I have forgotten many of them because my iPod crashed with 30 gigs of music in the same week that my computer and external hard drive did. I had rare bay area compilations and cds I collected from bayontop before they got shut down, but they're gone. Other ones I just largely forgot about. I'm going to start with this list I made for another site and edit more in, especially if there are people who like what they're hearing and comment.
Random side note I had one mushroom trip when I was 17 that started out as an anxiety filled bad trip. All the sudden I heard this higher pitched voice in my head rapping fast complex rhymes battling the inner depression and darkness in my heart which had prevented me from loving others and making real connections. It was so amazing. I like writing poetry but I have largely neglected honing that skill. With daily bud blazing I felt too numb or content to really be inspired to write. This was like a rebirth of the times when I was sober and would make poetry in my head while I walked around in my day to day except amplified to a large degree in speed.
On a side note how nice would it be if google and youtube put together some money to create a youtube video format which maintains reasonable space but syncs all the audios to be of the same quality. Its so annoying to me when you cant hear shit on some videos and then some are like full blast after.
