What ARE these purple goo-balls?
    #17863771 -

These purple goo balls were found in the desert in Arizona. No one knows exactly what it is. It could be some sort of fungus or mold, and i have also read something about someone once leaving those scented small jelly balls outside which resulted in them getting rained on and swelling up. Of course everyone wants to blame aliens but... what do you think it is?
Also... i apologize in advance if this could have been posted in a more suitable forum.

Link to story and a video:

Here's a better link with a bit more information and pictures.

Why do you hold such a grudge against them?  :strokebeard2: They seem pretty neat if you ask me.

Yeah, it's GOTTA be the Funk. 'Cuz we're all rigid. Like a breadstick.

Hmmm... waterbeads eh? What are they doing in the middle of the desert? Someone trying to get a rise out of the media? Dropped from an airplane? That goes for the decobeads as well (are they the same thing?)
And couldn't some science guy just test the stuff to see what it's made of, or is it just not worth it and this story is getting too much reaction? It seems like they have sort of gotten over it by now.

Someone might be doing an experiment with them.  Or someone broke open a bag of dehydrated ones, rain happens and they soak up shittons of water.  THey look polymer based.

I don't like the tone of the guy in the first vid at all, acting like he's all superior to people questioning and actually giving hypothesis on what it could be when he doesn't have any more of a clue.

douche.

the swollen beads sound plausible
