Abnormal Adenium
    #17832456 -

I've been growing both Adenium obesum and A. arabicum 'shaba' and it
seems there is a special obesum that has germinated.  The lil white/yellow
one up front.

His growth has been much slower than the other obesum seedlings, and
I'm wondering if he will survive on his own roots.  Unfortunately,
the only other Adeniums I have are also seedlings.  Could I graft
onto arabicum stock that has no leaves, or would this deprive the
abomination of a plant of photosynthetic glory?

Here are the arabicum seedlings, getting near transplant size.

FP, appears to be an albino seedling. Dunno about the arabicum stock but don't see why it wouldn't work.
Maybe make a practice graft to see if it takes.

Tech, these are desert rose and are some great looking plants with beautiful blooms.

Yes you can graft them  i recommend doing it sooner than later.
If you can buy a large adult adenium then graft to that cause you will need to graft to a adenium with many arms  not one like you have it will just die. most adults have many branches above the caudux thingamabob then nip one off and graft.

good luck.

Being in a bit of a rush and :happyweed:, I forgot that I do indeed have a larger Adenium specimen.

You're saying that I should graft onto the little nubbin that has
leaves at the bottom? Should I clip all the way back to the base, or
just an inch or so away?  Or would it be better if I grafted it onto
one of the longer branches?  I would think that would give the graft
more energy, being closer to the apical point with all those growth
hormones.

I am saying to graft to one of the larger branches
not that little arm, that little arm reminds me of the southpark episode where that teacher has a fetus growing from her face

:ahahaha:

I just attempted a butchered V-graft onto one of the tall arms and
wrapped it up in cling wrap.  One of the cotyledons on the albino was
starting to mold, so I chopped that off.

I have now performed my first graft!

don't leave the cling wrap on for too long or the whole thing will mould.
It should be fine.
