Adenium obesum help

Hey folks. I have an Adenium obesum that's been growing from seed since about the new year?
Every set of leaves she puts out look fine then after a new set begins to emerge the old ones turn brown and shrivel.

It's been driving me bonkers. Small pot with peat, soil, perlite, and sand. Water every couple of days, kept indoors for now. Any ideas?

i got a good size one in the back yard. that one looks pretty good to me. maybe the soil is too wet. sorry i couldnt help that much turtle.

It would look much better if all the leaves didn't keep falling off! check all those empty nodes below the leaves.

Soil dries out within a day or two. Maybe I'll hold off on water for a week or so. :shrug:

I've been looking at a couple pics of A. obesum and it looks like they don't keep too many leaves anyways, only like the top few. Your specimen looks good to me and I wouldn't fret I don't think.

They are deciduous and tend to lose their leaves in the Winter according to Wiki. What are the temps around your place? That could have something to do with it, too.

I grow them as part of my job description,  they never keep more than really one or two sets of leaves at the top, unless you have em on a constant liquid feed program or something. Lower leaves yellowing and dropping off are due to a N deficiency, which can be caused by a ton of things, over or underwatering, etc.  In this case it probably is a "feature" of the plant surviving on the canary islands.

here is mine in ground. the bootom leaves always seem to fall off.

Then I guess she's normal? Just seems funny to keep dropping all the leaves?

Temps are steady 70-80 at least.

It looks normal to me. Here is a picture of one of my seed grown. It is about 4 years old in this picture from 2008
