Capitalism is flawed, but so are all the other systems.  In my opinion capitalism is less flawed than the alternatives.

Never said it wasn't. I'm just saying that's it's really flawed. Even if it's "better than the alternative", it's still deeply flawed. There will be a better economic system out there. Even if we haven't created it yet.

The evolution of human thinking is not over.
In terms of economic systems I would be very sad to see capitalism as the epitome of socio-economic thought. I don't know, shit, I went to college for a long time and have a good idea about social/economic/political systems and how they evolve over time. I emphasized in a frame of thought that hasn't caught  on yet. I hope somebody hires me to make it happen...

We can debate about the barriers to that change. Or whether it is desirable or not. But not that a system that enforces a status quo frame of will achieve that.

You get what I'm saying, man.

:cookiemonster:  it's possible

I hope he can.  If I could find a better system than capitalism I would advocate for it.  I haven't seen anything though, capitalism seems to work where other systems fail.

Saying "there's better out there, but it probably doesn't exist" amounts to a bunch of nothing.

I hate it when people advocate nothing over something.  It happens so often too, especially among hippies/occupiers.  People say "xxxx sucks" but they can't propose anything better.  Useless bitching IMO.

The issue with drug laws is not capitalism, it is the general perception of drugs in the eyes of the majority.

Most people are scared of drugs.  Always have been, always will be.

While our perception obviously differs from them, bear in mind that we tend to associate with other like-minded individuals who validate our perception. The average law-maker, or to a greater extent, the average voter (who empowered this law maker) do not share these perceptions.

And that is why drugs are illegal.

It has nothing to do with some 'tyrannical' conspiracy to preemptively quell rebellion that supposedly progenates from some dude taking a heroic dose of mushies, and everything to do with negative stigma as far as the perception surrounding the various impacts of drug use.

I never said drug laws had anything to do with capitalism.

Also, flaws with capitalism? The fact that we can't feed everyone even though we have enough food to. That's a big one. Also you can't live on minimum wage. There's another one.

Just saying something better is going to come along, it has to.

You can't live luxuriously on minimum wage you mean. And who is going to want to work or progress as you say if they have everything handed to them? The flaw in our capitalist system is that anti-progressive socialist systems like welfare exist. You are the problem with capitalism is you want these to exist. Millions of people live off minimum wage every day. You don't need steak and lobster every night to live another day you pinko.

If the greater population became politically fluent and state influenced media was eliminated that we would be able to handle our selves a lot better. Its not exactly a different system but its a start. It'd be awesome if one day we could fire elected officials at the drop of a hat instead of waiting for their terms to expire, sadly I know we wouldnt be able to effectively handle that ability right now. To many ill-informed voters, but I think such a setup would do well to eliminate corruption.

Also I never advocated socialism. Where did I ever advocate that? There's more to economics than socialism and capitalism.

You spew these if then fallacies that have failed in the past and it's like you aren't aware or don't care. If capitalism is such shit then why is USA the most powerful nation in the world? You're just bitching to be bitching as if you know what you're talking about. If you don't like how we do things then get out and go to a country with your economic system of choice. North Korea, Vietnam; I hope you like rice and government death squads.

Slavery... I hope you're aware that there's more to building a nation than tribesmen picking cotton on a farm hundreds of years ago and you're just being sarcastic. Not everyone in the USA used slave labor contrary to what your college professor told you or what you heard on your Nas albums.

Not all of you, but you all benefited from the surplus products and economic activity it garnered, and It was wide spread, and beneficial enough to warrant a civil war over it when your government abolished it. Theres really not much to building a nation, your just building a lot of infrastructure and consolidating the power of a ruling class. It pretty much happens on its own when the resources are bountiful enough and there's limited outside threats.

Because you're full of shit and so is the majority of political views on this forum. The drugs have fried your brain. There's your answer to why they are illegal.
